They're both worse. Twanny is obviously a previously banned poster who probably spends most of his day reading QAnon fairy tales, whereas JBE was a good poster for a long time but definitely has gone off the rails with the things that he's espousing around these parts of late.

Someone with moderation powers nuked his comment wishing for the elimination of Trump and Trump's supporters so this isn't the first time (here on MGoBlog) he has advocated violence against people.

JBE stated he wanted to 'cancel' Trump and his supporters.  When asked how he defines 'cancel' he replied  "To bring to nothingness".

That's a threat in most people's books and given what he has posted about the police, it's not a stretch.

In any case, somebody in Modville removed the comments so he or she recognized it for what it was.

Thanks for the explanation.  I don't know about the deletion of his comment, as I didn't see the post in the mod sticky thread until a couple days late, as it was posted up thread under some older comments rather than at the end.  I frequently go to the last comment in this thread for a quick glance when I only have a moment online (such as when I'm at work).

I even googled the phrase and got some biblical references, but didn't see anything specifically regarding violence or murder or anything of the sorts.

The fact that JBE isn’t banned yet for calling for violence against police, while another user (handle escapes me at the moment) in the thread was already banned, is going to weigh on the mods’ collective credibility.

Yes, he's being banned, along with a few others.  Still compiling a list, because I also saw some posts by someone named "Twanny69" and in looking thru his posts got sidetracked to another flame-filled thread.

To make a long story short, I have 4 usernames so far to block and there may be more, and I'm going to then issue  warnings in a couple strategically-placed spots. 

JBE's comments will be tweaked with an explanation in my edit, but he will be banned but still visable. I've been combing through things since 7pm and also conversing with a few others in this thread---please see my comments I posted a short time ago up-page to MGoUser "RGard"  and a bit earlier to a few other MGoUsers.

I just banned the following 7 accounts:

•JBE

•TwannySpecial69

•Mike Corleone

•Michael Corleone (same email address was used to start 2 new usernames today)

•goblue4biden2020

•goblue4biden (again, same email address being used early this evening for 2 new usernames)

•ShanelleWaters. "She" started an account overnight and immediately spammed a thread from 2018, I noticed this new account while deleting all the others.

 

JBE gone for obvious reason of inciting violence and to make matters worse, then doubling-down on his comments. That clinched it for good.

Twanny69 and (both) Corleone accounts were opened today and it was pretty obvious that they're both previously banned users. Corleone only used his "Mike" account to post covid disinformation and probably set up the 2nd account with equally bad intent. Twanny69 thought it would be cool to have a vile disgusting username AND went full troll immediately.

 Both "goblue4 biden" accounts banned because, as expected, his posts immediately became political. 

Shanelle Waters was just another run-of-the-mill spammer.

What an absolute shitstorm.  There was a time in my MgoLife I wanted to be a mod-not anymore.

The complete garbage you guys have to put up with right now is unbelievable and unfortunately probably going to get worse as the election nears.

There's a reason it's happening. People are naturally good and want to team up and work together, especially in a crisis, so extremists need to make politics so ugly and politicize everything to such a degree that we can't keep talking to each other. You can do anything to anybody, or be okay with anything done to anybody by your allies if you feel like you're at war.

Democracy, freedom, justice, bravery, trust, truth, peace...these things work for most people, but those whom they don't work for have a lot of tools at their disposal to undermine them, and no compunction about using them. We didn't slide down into this; there's an engine pushing us this way. Corruption and illiberalism need power. The more we realize we share more values with each other than with them, the more of it they lose.

One sports blog can't turn that tide alone in the best of times, and this is during a pandemic when we have to limit the face-to-face interactions that the foundations of trust are made of. The drug of hate is too accessible right now, and our options for meetings extremely limited.

Wow somebody posted a hack job on Shlissel written by none other that Steve Deace, a right winger who keeps company with Glenn Beck, Steve Bannon and Ted Cruz.  This should be a take down. 
 

There absolutely no substantiation. He even says “a little birdie told me”.

"Writing" for SI these days is absolutely nothing like what it was even five years ago, let alone in its heyday. Now it's just a collection of hacks who couldn't get published anywhere else throwing all sorts of shit at the wall for the privilege of "writing" for a dying publication. At this point SI is no better or different than some guy ranting on Facebook.

Nobody's on the side of Deace except Deace. He's got someone who funds his ventures, including buying him into the Maven site that pretends to still be SI. Unless you're the kind of person who's so politically radicalized that you need your breakfast cereal to conform to your views there's no reason for the existence of Deace.

It was a busy and fun Labor Day weekend, but time for some overdue cleanup later today.
