Nice!!  If I watched the NBA, I'd have to head out to the Phone Booth and watch a game...

(The 'Phone Booth' thing should still be a thing.  It'll be the Verizon Center to me long after Verizon is dead and gone!)

Yep...  Back in 1998, when the Red Wings were dismantling the Caps in 4 straight, I regularly trained dogs with a VP of MCI.  A week after the win, I mentioned that I had looked at getting tickets for game 4, but couldn't find any available (that weren't $1000).  He looked at me like I was from Mars, and said 'why didn't you call me?  You could have sat in the MCI suite with my son and his girlfriend..."  Nobody else was in it.

Cool story, bro.  Fuck me...

My cooler story bro:

I was in DC at the time.  Heard a rumor that the box office released a few tickets at 10 am on game day, so I loitered around the MCI Center lobby until 10, managed to ask just the right person at just the right time, and got myself a Mezzanine level , blue line singleton for face value ($115 I think).  Still one of my favorite sports memories.

I like it. They are basically in full rebuild whether they admit it or not, and they lack dynamic big men.  He should get plenty of playing time.

Let's see... stud PF/C at Michigan, spent his rookie year in California, then traded to DC...

Mo Wagner is Chris Webber v2.0 (this time with less Ed Martin!).

TBH I don't think the Lakers are going to be that great and not nearly as great as everyone is making them out to be. I'm glad Mo got out of there so he can develop and shine on a new team without so much drama.

Super Mega Team in LA...Anthony Davis, Lebron and... Leonard?

Yeah...Lakers are not going to be that great with the Warriors and Rockets down in the West next year.  Come on and take your hate-the-Lakers blinders off.  Even if the Lakers don’t get Leonard...who has 2 top 7 players in the NBA that are healthy?

Do the Lakers currently have a starting five?

They do have 2 of the top 7 players in the league, Kouzma and... crickets. If they plan on signing yet another max contract, they won't have a ton of money left for roster depth. Count me in the "not so sure about the Lakers" category.

OKC used to have 3 top 10 players and couldn't get done, even with bench depth.

They aren't getting Leonard. And I know it seems ridiculous, but I just don't see the Lebron led Lakers going anywhere. Lebron will decline AT SOME POINT. I'm not saying it is now, but it's going to happen.  It's not a super mega team AT ALL.  It's the supporting cast that will need to get it done if the Lakers want to get a championship.

I know you disagree, but I really do not see all this hype the lakers are getting. Come playoff time and teams are healthy, I'll put GSW(without KD, with Klay), Houston(Drama team when they sign Butler), and MAYBE the Jazz or Nuggets.

LeBron is already declining...which is why he took off plays on defense last year.  But he shut it down early and will have more time this offseason to rest than he has had in the last 10 years.  So he is older, but is due for a solid season.  LeBron in decline is better than most other NBA players.

Anthony Davis is a Top 5 player.  He is only 26, nearly 7’0 tall, plays ridiculous D, can drill the 3 ball and is a monster on Offense.  The future of the Lakers is Anthony Davis, which is why LeBron is giving AD the #23 jersey.

The Lakers can sign a max player, which leaves Leonard, Kyrie and Butler...or they can start getting some scrappy snipers that play D like Beverly, Ariza, JJ, Bogdanovic. Nearly 40% of all players are restricted or unrestricted free agents this year.

Lakers will be just fine. Harden and CP3 hate each other...Butler would be a terrible addition.  GS without Durant and Klay couldn’t beat a team with one super star this year.  Lakers could have 3 next year.

I don't get these takes. I would much rather have Moe on the Lakers than the Wizards. Which team are you far more likely to watch next season?

You absolutely have more chances to watch him in Washington. I'm talking about the likelihood that you're actually going to sit down and turn on a Wizards game.

The Lakers will be playing primetime games and will be on weekend nationally televised games way more than the Wiz.

I don't follow the NBA enough to particularly care to understand the nuances of the salary cap.....but I struggle to see how trading someone on their rookie deal and two no-name guys who barely played frees up enough cap space to sign a big free agent.  Consider me confused....

Happy for him but they never should have changed their name from the Bullets. Yeah, I know, all PC and everything.

I'm not following FA very closely, admittedly, but the Lakers are dumping bodies like crazy in order to clear for all this cap space. Let's say they go out and get another superstar like Kahwi Leonard. That's great and all, but who on the team is left? Are they going to have any semblance of depth, or are they expecting a Big 3 to carry them every night?

LeBron, AD and Kahwi are superstars, but you still need to be able to rest them for parts of any given game. Especially LeBron, now that he maybe has another year or two left where he's still in his prime. If the guys they surround these three with are nothing more than that, just guys, then you have to wonder if this is all really worth it. I wonder how much left they'll have to be able to pay for anyone else.

Is it enough to get them to the playoffs? Absolutely. Will it win them a title? I doubt it.

The general sense I've gotten is that the Lakers will try to get by with 2nd-rounders, salary minimum, and some 2-way players along with a veteran or two who may chase a ring.  It's not a great plan, but they're the Lakers and the governing rule for them forever is win now and figure out the rest later, and for the most part it's worked out.

It's a team that will make the playoffs and then you're going to see if anyone can be LeBron, AD, and superstar X 4 out of 7 times.  Some team(s) probably can, but as we saw with the Raptors you can sometimes win just being the right place at the right time.

He's get more playing time there, but man that's a dead zone for a guy's career.  A team with little cap space and a weird roster.

Hopefully Mo can ride it out.
