Miles Bridges "leaning heavily" toward returning to MSU
https://www.landof10.com/michigan-state/report-michigan-states-miles-br…
This per Adrian Wojnarowski. Would obviously be huge news for the Spartans and Big Ten basketball. You have to hand it to Izzo?
MSU had a bad year, but in the five years before that MSU finished (in the Massey Composite):
Michigan State -- 5th, 14th, 9th, 10th, and 6th.
Not a lot of teams can match that level of consistent performance.
Kentucky -- 9th, 1st, 12th, 57th, 1st.
Kansas -- 2nd, 10th, 11th, 6th, 4th.
Duke -- 15th, 2nd, 16th, 2nd, 12th.
North Carolina -- 3rd, 9th, 24th, 26th, 5th.
After that there's a pretty huge falloff. To show how hard it is to sustain that level of success, here are our rankings over that same timespan:
Michigan -- 47th, 68th, 10th, 4th, 22nd.

The rookie cap goes up 45% next season, it's a great reason for Wilson and Wagner to return too. If all 3 improve ther postition it means a lot more money for them in their first contract.
Not sure how he does it.
Bridges is absolutely the real deal...Prolly go 10-15 but I'd take this guy top 5...He's got alot of Westbrook in his game....Great pickup for sparty if he returns, but how izzo was throwing players under the bus this season, go pro miles!
As a Sparty, I can tell you that Izzo has had 23 guys sign NBA contracts, and only 10 of them were high school All-Americans. Less hearalded recruits off the top of my head that went pro include MoPete, Charlie Bell, Andre Hutson, Alan Anderson, Denzel, Draymond, Bryn Forbes...even Mo Ager was a mid 4 star high schooler.
Sorry, when you said "but are there any other lower ranked guys out of high school that Izzo made better and got drafted?" I didn't realize you meant since Draymond. In that case it would be Valentine and Forbes.
And in regards to your previous comment, Payne was a first round draft pick, Dawson was a draft pick, and Keith Appling, while out of the NBA due to his own stupidity, signed with the Magic. Your examples are all of guys who made the NBA.
But for the record, I don't believe that coaches "make guys better." Coaches teach the game and tell players where they need to improve, but it's on the individual. Players either work hard on their game to improve their flaws, or they don't. Just like any other skill in any other profession.
Stop taking this board so freaking seriously.
We all realize that Bridges coming back is going to make MSU a very good team.
But it's all pre-season hype at this point and you NEVER KNOW what will happen during the course of a season with players regressing/getting hurt/etc... MSU supposedly had one of the best teams to ever grace the NCAA tournament last year and got popped by a 15.
We all know Izzo is an HoF coach, but we are allowed to question that he's not the fear-inducing coach that he used to be. This whole Jan, Feb, Izzo crap is over.
You aren't being downvoted for that, you are being downvoted because it's clear as day from your entire posting history that you are an MSU fan. I welcome any and all MSU and OSU fans on this blog as long as they are respectful and honest about the team they root for. Trust me, no one is more critical of Beilein around here than me, but I can tell you no one here is jealous or gives a shit about MSU basketball.
I don't seem him improving his draft stock next year. He should go while his stock is high.
And somehow when MSU loses next year, Izzo will still use the weird guys and injuries excuse. Although next years weird guys will be HS McDonalds All Americans.
I honestly have never heard of this guy.
Post of the year!
you cannot be fucking serious.
How in fucking hell do you get a nearly guaranteed lottery pick to return.
Also "Michigan fan who constantly encourages Michigan kids to go pro," you're a fucking idiot. It's not like there is any level of success pushing UM kids out early that will lead to us getting more 1 and done or 2 and done kids. There's no pay off on any side of the equation for us.
Also, if Chad Ford is pushing one of our kids out, it's like a rock solid guarantee they end up in the 2nd round.
Izzo is seriously going to get a guy who is a lottery pick and whose mom is still dealing with Flint water to stay, how is this fucking possible

...in our basketball fanbase (football, not so much) and the fact that this post - about a player returning to another school, no less - has as many comments as the spring game breakdown on the main page. This is a bad look, in objective terms.
Well, Bridges has called a press conference in front of their Sparty statue and invited the entire fanbase and student body saying, "Meet me at the Sparty Statue at 6pm, I've got something to say, it's not about me, it's about us."
He's returning, but wouldn't it be the biggest burn ever if he was setting up those fans? It would be devastating to them if he called this to announce he is hiring an agent to enter the draft.
Bridges actually seems like a really good kid, I know we were in on him a little. Kid seems like he loves basketball and is always smiling. I think Wilson, if he returns, can give Bridges all he can handle next year. Game on. Of course they're saying Bridges might be a small forward next year, so will Matthews cover him?
Also no small challenge, although DJ's got more seasoning.
Jaren Jackson is going to be a problem for us, after watching the Nike Hoops Summit, he's way better than I thought. He will start for them regardless of whether they somehow land Brandon McCoy too. Right now, he'd be a problem for Wilson to guard as he is solifd with the ball and has freaky length. Jackson is a better and more mobile version of Deyonta Davis. Really want Bamba as an off set to Jacskon, but I don't think that's realistic at all now.
So if Wilson guards Bridges we're going to have the 6-6 Matthews or 6-4 MAAR guarding the 6-11 Jackson who has a 7-4" winspan? I say we play zone.
