I hate to ask this, but with our current depth at RB, do we really *need* a back in this class? Maybe I'm in the minority here, but the running back's position is the only one I actually feel good about for the next couple of years.

Get Jim Harbaugh

Well, does he need to visit? Hasn't he been here before? Besides, why would he NOT go to OSU simply for football's standpoint? They're winning a lot and won't be slowing anytime soon. Michigan is still a couple of seasons away (hopefully, that is).

Brionte Dunn hasn't set the world on fire and people were upset when he chose OSU.  Plus I can't remember the last Cass Tech player that was irreplaceable for us.  I believe in our coaching staff to improve our current stable of running backs.

He's a kid.  What can you do?

I sort of feel bad for the guy.  I can't imagine he'll see the field until he's a senior at best with the stable of backs they have in place and already committed.

But, I wish him the best. At least we can stop talking about him.

The big problem is that we're losing the Cass Tech kids.  I assume Harbaugh will change that.

When Sam Webb mentioned this on the morning show, he said the key words in that statement were "think" and "official" (official visit). A caller asked him who he thinks would be the biggest shock commitment for this class, and before answering he said that he wouldn't count Weber because it wouldn't be a shock if he came on board.

As we all know about Sam, he's VERY careful about his choice of words when giving recruiting predictions. Reading between the lines I think he's saying that we still have a good shot here.

was that the key words Weber used were "think" and "official". Sam harped on that and repeated it a few times. Weber doesn't have to take an official visit up here, and he might not have a visit to Ann Arbor be an "official" visit anyways because he wants to keep it relatively quiet since he is commited to osu.

I'm not saying that Sam was telling us that he's coming to Michigan, just that he wouldn't say our chances are over because of that comment from Weber.

specific recruitment. If Weber's statement meant that it's over for us, Sam would know that.

Another thing he was strongly saying this morning is that Weber is still the unquestioned number one target of this entire years class, and that he is the highest priority for the staff. This is again AFTER that statement came out, so the staff has obviously still thinks they have a decent shot if he is still at this high of a priority.

Listen guys its over let's move on we have about ten or eleven kids that will be committing to Michigan in the next two weeks let's focus on them. Weber couldn't come back if he wanted too and we all know why.

It's late in the game but he's still undecided.

it looks like he really made the wrong decision. Meyer has used god dreams to lure kids, said Carr told him personally that Stonum would be a better fit at Florida, etc. He flat out told Dunn (who was still likely heavily leaning osu but becoming genuinely undecided) "you go up there and the one team you'll never play for is osu". Imagine that. Not the "we'll open your spot back up but still recruit you with no promises" but "visit UM and you better go there because you won't be here". Maybe he's ok with very limited playing time and at least one NC ring? As a player that doesn't appear to ever be a starter there, you wonder if it was worth it. I'm not like that. If Michigan (!) did that to me I'd tell the coach to eat something meaty. I'm just like that. The "Hoke policy" was not what Meyer did with Dunn and it was more for perception than need. He couldn't lose Dunn to UM out the gate so he forced his hand (maybe what he'd have chosen anyway but still). I think it's messed up as he seems like a quiet, dude. He doesn't seem like a kid that would have stood up to that threat. It's sad, really.....unless he doesn't care about playing.

of the over analysis of why kids go here or there is like trying to decipher which direction an ant is going to go when he comes out of an ant hole.  There was a 5 star RB that chose bama over M a few years back, (Hall?), but we have not seen or heard of him since. Certainly the lure of going to the current NC team is a powerful draw.  But then logic asks questions like, how much playing will I get, will I play as a freshman etc. Think about it, you are 17-18 years old a rock star image coach like Meyer says yup you remind me of Percy Harvin only you are better.  It's gonna make your head spin.   5 years later you are waiting tables to pay off those college loans.  Other than getting laid who knows what a particular HS kid is thinking.

I don't know if this is already been said, but why would he need to revisit anyway?
He already knows everything he needs to know about the campus. All he needs now is familiarity with the coaches. That doesn't require him to be physically present on campus

Don't care.

  • Ty Isaac
  • Derrick Green
  • De'Veon Smith
  • Drake Johnson
  • Justice Hayes

The difference: they are all going to have a competent and good coaching staff for the first time in their Michigan career.

Mike can go wherever he wants, but keep in mind he will be associated with those mouthbreathers for the rest of his life.
