or have you see anything out of this team on the road against a good team in over a decade?  Probably the best game we played on the road was against OSU in 2016 and we still lost (the refs didn't help, but you get the point)

So we're playing them at night. So what. This message board is being soooooooooooooft.

If we lose I'm pretty sure it's going to be because we're not operating a real offense right now, not because it's at night.

Yep...well, the reason everyone should think we get our ass kicked probably should just be we havent not shit the bed against a good team on the road in over a decade.    As soon as our players start calling the game "a business trip" , then we'll know for sure they'll play passive and roll over quickly

Barring an offensive renaissance in the next two weeks, I have a hard time envisioning Michigan winning. I doubt it will be a blowout like it was two years ago, because Trace McSorely, Mike Gisecki and Saquon Barkley ain't walking through that door. But Penn State's defense honestly might feast on our offense if there isn't major progress made before then.

If the game were played today, it feels like it would be a 28-13 kind of game.

The Penn State White Out--50% of the time it works every time

All year long on here everyone talks about Franklin being the worst coach in the conference but now its panic city because the game is at night, and they may play Zombie Nation an extra time or two.

I'm more confident now and not less, this will give our team the chance to play with the chip on our shoulders. The Nits are a top 10 team either way, let them have to play with the pressure of the moment.

Someone mentioned it on the other thread, but I concur that the spread for this game will be about -7.5 Penn St , and I envision Michigan loses by 21 plus.

Reasoning:  We haven't not shit the bed in a true road test in over a decade.

I just don't understand how they always get to host us for night games. Doesn't really seem fair.

Why don't we play every good team at night too? It's such a home field advantage

What’s not “fair” about a night game?  Are you suggesting all good games should be noon kicks so it’s “fair?  The minority of this fan base absolutely drives me nuts!!!!

news break... we do play the majority of our good opponents (prior to November) at night nowadays.  November games need to be approved by both schools, not gonna happen...

Of course it'll happen after enough trials.  But the fact that it hasn't happened in a while doesn't make it more likely to happen on the next trial. Your logic is faulty.

Each game is an independent random trial based on the quality of teams playing and this next trial is the only one that matters here. We aren't as good as PSU right now and home field is a big advantage for them.

We have a 25-30% chance of winning.  I'm as hopeful and optimistic as anyone on here that those odds hit.  I think with a better QB those odds go up but M's chances have nothing to do with previous seasons.

The memoryless property of this trial actually causes me to be more optimistic than most observers. Rutgers doesn't win road games against ranked teams because they are very bad have have a tiny chance of winning those.  Some people think Harbaugh "can't win the big game" and give him an even less chance than the quality of the teams imply.  I adhere to the cold hard probabilities and will be hoping that a game in which we have a 1 in 4 chance is that 1 positive outcome.

Never under-estimate Franklin's ability to muck things up (and then talk in the post-game presser about using this loss to spur the team to "the next level"). For the last 2 years, they've held double-digit leads on OSU late, only to choke. You should have heard the howls around State College last year when they had a 4th and [I think] 3 and they start out in the freakin' shot-gun. (Field goal would win it.) They take the ball out of McSorley's hands (who'd torn us up all night) and Miles Sanders takes the hand-off 5 yards behind the LOS. Chase Young tears up the play; game over. Franklin's considered an excellent recruiter and all-around cheerleader, but his in-game decision-making is painful. The white-out is daunting. I don't know how easily you guys can score on them, but if you can make it a defensive struggle, most of the student body will get bored and pass out.

I know in this age of TV there has to be night games, but I just can’t stand them. There is nothing worse than waking up on game day and being excited, then having to sit and wait HOURS for the game to start. If I go to the game it’s a little better, but then I don’t get home until 12-1ish.
