Here's hoping for an acceptance speech littered with references to Michigan's record against MSU under her reign and how she has upgraded since her playing days. Much to my disappointment, she will probably continue being the wonderful human being she has always been and accept the honor with dignity and grace but I can still hope.

HaHaHaHa.  Gonna be a rockin' good time for Carol up in EL.  Get to share the Dias with Charles Rogers.  Hope she doesn't have to sit next to him, he will be bumming smokes off his neighbors all night.  Maybe.

Went down the rabbit hole of wikipedia and found that Hutch is second in all time wins for an NCAA softball coach with 1,669, 5 wins behind Arizona's Mike Candrea's 1,674. Candrea just retired, so Hutch should take over first all time this upcoming season. However, Candrea got all his wins at UA. She'd need 29 wins to have the most wins at a single school (1,646 wins at UM).

No other coach is within 200 wins of Hutch and Candrea. Next on the active list is Patty Gasso at 1339 wins at OU. She's "only" been coaching for 27 years, so there is theoretically a chance she could surpass Hutch at some point. But don't hold your breath - it would be AT LEAST a decade away, if not more since Hutch is still coaching.

Hutchins is a strong reminder that talent is talent wherever it resides. There are many great professionals teaching at Michigan State today who went to Michigan. And there are many great professors teaching at Michigan today who went to Michigan State.
