Michigan opens -29.5 vs Maryland

Submitted by Bigku22 on

Opening line Michigan -29.5. No movement so far.

Probably a touch high IMO week after a rivalry game. Perry Hills back and has looked pretty good, don't see this dropping under 28. Maryland run D is garbage though. At this line a no play for me.

Durkin's defense gave up 414 rushing yards at Indiana yesterday and 650 yards total.

Sounds about right.

Maryland is bad at pass protection and Hills is not a particularly adept passer. Maryland cannot stop the run

and are without their best CB(Likely).

UM should romp. Maryland will probably make some plays on the edge, but it won't be done consistently.

Maryland was blown by Penn State and Minnesota.

I'm not too worried about Maryland at this point. We'll be undefeated going into the sewer in C-bus.

The Harbaugh-Durkin dynamic gives this game some sizzle that it wouldn't ordinarily have.

I'm going to cool my jets this week on my Michigan bet.  This will be a relatively small bet.  Lesson learned from last weekend.  Michigan has the ability to win by 40 but Harbaugh probably won't want to embarrass a former assistant.  I can see Michigan jumping out to a 28- to 32-point lead and then playing 3rd and 4th string the rest of the way.  Beware the late cover by Maryland.

Peppers has a very legitimate chance. This is not fool's gold.

I do think he'll need some help, though. Louisville will need to lose again or Jackson will need to have an AWFUL game. But right now if say he's 2-3 in the standings. Watson has not impressed, and Barrett is probably out after 2-3 meh weeks. Browning from UW is legit, but at this rate, if he keeps this up, Peppers is at least getting an invite to NY. Probably won't win since the Heisman committee is blatantly biased towards offensive players, but the fact that Peppers affects the game in all three phases could help him.

As long as he doesn't implode, I think he at least gets invited.

Don't listen to a word said publicly. Brown is pissed and I imagine most of the defense is disappointed in that performance. They want to be historic. They are going to destroy Maryland. I predict less than a 100 yds of offense and Hills will be out of game by halftime.

As if Harbaugh and his staff aren't aware of that and certainly will not break tendency nor develop a rational competitive strategy to beat the defense Maryland has put on film this year.

It appears there is no listed line for the Sparty-Illinois game. Hahahaha. Enjoy your winter off, boys.

I think it depends on how slow or fast a start UM gets. I could totally see the team having a bit of a hangover from the state game and taking a while to get going.
