Michigan Baseball Up One Spot to 18th

Submitted by ChalmersE on

Baseball America's new poll has Michigan at 18th, up a spot after a four game sweep of Hawaii in Honolulu. Next up: a three game series at 22nd ranked Oklahoma State.  BTW, new to the Top 25 is MSU at 25. Sparty has lost only once this season.

B10 baseball, so can someone give a quick rundown of who to keep an eye on this season in conference? With UM and MSU ranked, looks like we could have some competitive match ups in the future.

I'm a bit skeptical about MSU given that they've played a pretty weak schedule so far. Michigan's shedule hasn't been the strongest either, but at least the Wolverines beat the top team they've played so far (Cal), while MSU lost to Southern Miss. The OK State series should be a good gauge for where Michigan stands nationally this year.

Nebraska and Maryland are two other teams to watch out for.

Right now, Massey's Ratings have the top 4 Big Ten teams as Michigan State, Michigan, Minnesota and Nebraska.  Michigan hosts the other 3 teams in that list this season:

April 8, 9 and 10 vs Minnesota; April 15, 16 and 17 vs Nebraska; April 29 and May 1 vs Michigan State (the April 30 game is at Kobs Field in East Lansing).  Michigan's performance in those 3 series will go a long way to determine whether they can win the Big Ten championship and possibly grab a top-16 spot in the nation and host an NCAA regional.
