Michigan Athletics dominated Ohio State in 2018-19
The final count was known once Michigan Rowing beat them for the 4th time in 2018-19 but now that the season is over I figured it would be appropriate to share this.
Notes: certain sports head-to-head results are counted differently.
For example, your record in Swimming & Diving is determined by your dual meet results. Team performances in postseason championships do not reflect your record.
However in sports such as Gymnastics, Cross Country, and Rowing everything is counted. So Michigan beat OSU in their head-to-head meet in February in M Gymnastics. But Michigan finished ahead of OSU at the B1G Championships so that counts towards the team's record and in the overall series history. I'm not sure who invented this way of record keeping but it is what it is.
Track & Field isn't listed here because the sport counts nothing at all in regards to team records.
Here's to an even better 2019-20 against them.
The 7th sport counts for A LOT!!!
For some, it is the only one that counts.
For me that’s not true...
It’s not the only one, but I’m not gonna pretend that I care we beat them in rowing and volleyball
Wow, you people are pathetic. That inferiority complex is sooooo transparent LOL!
Field hockey? Oh wait, I lost count.
Women's golf - 7 times? Wow.
- 9/16: East & West Match Play Challenge (Ann Arbor)- L 591-585
- 10/1-10/2: Windy City Classic (Chicago)- L 908-892
- 10/12-10/14: Ruth's Chris Invitational (Chapel Hill)- W 902-915
- 2/24-2/25: Westbrook Spring Invitational (Phoenix): W 861-867
- 3/29-3/31: Bryan National Collegiate (Bryan, TX): L 901-887
- 4/13-4/14: Lady Buckeye Invitational (Columbus): W 896-897
- 4/19-4/21: B1G Championships (Maineville, OH): L 583-575
Holy crap, those are close losses/wins.
Is this supposed to make me feel better since we haven't beaten them in football for 15 years and they have multiple National Championships? I really want this to make me feel better but it doesn't.
Sorry. I might get neg-bombed for this, but I'd rather have won football and lost every other sport.
I'm with you.
Considering this blog is heavy football and not rowing, I agree with your comment
We only won at rowing because we had Lori Loughlin's daughter on scholarship...
Too soon?
Likewise and I don't have to think twice about it.
Baseball, Football, and M Tennis clearly have to pick up their games. Can you believe that crappy baseball team?
/s
Fire Backich!
fire the rowing coach!
I hear Andy Moeller is available
Going to see a switch to the Block M on that 7th one down later on in 2019.
Vegetarian but if M does it I'll eat a turkey drumstick.
User name checks out until Thanksgiving.
Bone and all.
That’s what she said.
Come on Arb Lover - you want the streak to end then you have to put some meat on your wager (proverbial and literal). Good cut of steak with a glass of whole milk.
Pics or it never happened.
Great to see ! Would love to see where we stand overall with MSU as well. That being said, we all know what sport we need to win.
We did even better against MSU. There was a point earlier this year where we hadn't lost a match to MSU yet across any sport (in 2019). Shooting from the hip I'd estimate it was more like 38-7-1 once all was said and done, so I guess that's what you get when you keep Nassar in house to "win".
Actually we did better against OSU.
People should be very proud/thrilled. Last year it was very close, 27-22 Michigan. Mostly everyone got the job done or did multiple times in 2018-19.
Mostly everyone.
I'll defer to your inside knowledge, and after searching Mgoblog I can't find it, but wasn't there a point recently (thinking Mens soccer where we were suppose to lose and didn't) where we still hadn't lost to MSU in the 2018 2019 season over any sport?
I agree the athletes did phenomenal against OSU this year, I was simply attempting to highlight that I think they did even better against little brother/sister.
-1 for using match. It's game, soccer hippies. Winning score first, home team on the bottom or the right. We need a Murica class around here.
I'm glad UM won all those games/matched vs OSU but this is about the lamest thing I have ever seen. FOOTBALL. FOOTBALL. FOOTBALL. Nothing else matters.
This is a Michigan blog. We are progressive. Why is that so hard for some ? Football is no more important than any other sport. Male and female sports are all equal at Michigan. Leaders and Best.
Get the fuzz out of here with that.
Football is and should always be on a complete different level.
We don’t fill 115k+ stadiums for any other sport. It is Ann Arbor in the Fall.
Football is no more important than any other sport?? Hahahah. GTFO with that. What an embarrassing comment.
I agree with Baughz the participation trophy crowd around this place is a little embarrassing. And according to Michigan fans, the Game is just another game and the outcome isn’t that important as long as UM beats OSU in more sports during the season.
OSU football doesn’t give a crap about rowing. All they care about is beating the crap out of the UM football team for the umpteenth time.
But to be fair most OSU "fans" don't know the first thing about academia or intercollegiate athletics as a whole.
Please tell me that this was a joke.
News flash: peach is a troll.
verify by checking posting history
Incorrect.
Is progressive now a synonym for stupid?
You’re getting insufferable, twatwaffle.
I know you're trolling, but still get the fuck out of here you clown.
I’ve always said we were a Rowing school...
Awesome to see, but as we all know, the headlines and national perception of Michigan’s athletic abilities are all dominated by the result of one sport. And we’ve been getting our asses handed to us for the last 20 years.
Not right that that’s how it is. But......that’s just how it is. No one would really care if we beat OSU in Women’s Rowing every year for the next 100 years save for the ladies associated with those respective teams. Football drives any and all perception.
Exactly right. Ask any other fanbase around the country what sport pops into their mind when you mention Michigan-Ohio State and I can just about guarantee it isn't basketball, baseball, wrestling or even rowing.
Football pays the bills....
For all the non-rev sports and more!
And lights up the city on Saturdays. It’s a complete different atmosphere in A2 come football season.
We can thank Don Canham and Bo for that ... we lost our way under Martin/RR and Brandon/Hoke, but we have found our way back again.
Time to take the Hill, Michigan. Go Blue !!!
Oh umbig11, you must be smiling about the OP a couple down from this one.
looking forward to seeing you at a game this fall.
I'm not sure I understand why Track and Field don't count.
We either beat them or we didn't. So which is it (in both men's and women's track)?
Because there is literally nothing to count anymore. Everything is a non-scoring invitational unless there's a rare one-off quad meet.
The only events that are scored are conference and national championships and the results from those meets don't compile a record.
It's quite sad actually as we used to face them every year--indoors and outdoors--in "The Dual".
