Michigan's Newest NC: Women's Distance Relay Team

Submitted by MGoSoftball on

The women's distance relay team won a National Championship yesterday.  The team members are: Rebecca Addison from Grand Haven, Maya Long from Ann Arbor, Jillian Smith from Manahawkin NJ, and Amanda Eccleston from Adrian.  Their time was 9:56.46.

This puts the overall track team in a tie for 3rd place with Arizona St behind #1 Kansas and #2 UCF.

I have repeatedly said that the Softball Team would bring home the next team NC.  I also committed to sing the Yellow and Blue in the center of the Diag and post it on Youtube if another team won a NC before the SB Team did.  The Track Team is really close to a Team NC.

Congrats ladies.  You are the Leaders and Best and we are very proud of you.

It's too bad that non basketball and non football sports don't get the publicity, but it is the world we live in.  Nobody gave a crap when I got an A in my EECS 482 project.  (You got me.  Hypothetical situation.  I never got an A on any EECS 482 project.)

Good job, ladies.  Hard work pays off and the entire Michigan community embraces you in spirit.  Even if it is only mentioned on a Saturday morning thread...

Would love cheering them on after the fact.  At least the ladies can cheer each other on.

(And I'm pissed that there's no stream of tonight's Men's Gymnastics.  For those closer to home, #2 Michigan is hosting #3 Oklahoma tonight at Cliff Keen Arena. )
