MBB schedules home and home with Texas
Next year's schedule is gonna be amazing.
UCLA, Cincinnati and Texas at home. Maui Invitational. Hopefully a good draw in B1G play.
Texas and Michigan will start a home-and-home series next season in Ann Arbor, sources told @CBSSports. Return game in Austin in 17-18.

I blame Warde Manuel.
This isn't the Brian Cook model of non-conference hoops scheduling, to be sure. The PAC-12 put together a great bad-but-not-too-bad non-conference slate among its members in 2015, artificially boosting everyone's RPI and getting some marginal teams into the dance. Michigan could be looking at four non-conference losses this year. It'll be great if we win, but could put us behind the eight-ball when playing the Akron's of the world wouldn't hurt a bit.
It does make for some exciting early season games, though, which I'm all for.
They won the MAC regular season, and while the MAC isn't amazing, it is a top heavy conference with some good teams at the top. Actually, they may have been beyond the middle tier RPI teams you want to play, they finished last year with a top 40 RPI. But top to middle tier MAC teams are what Michigan should be scheduling, instead of bottom tier MAC and worse mid-majors with RPI 250+
That said, Texas of course is a welcome addition. Glad to see they're bringing in a name nonconference opponent to Crisler; I think Xavier was the only one last year.

Win some of these games and get in! I like the matchup.
We usually do prettay, prettay, prettay well against Shaka Smart coached teams. . .
Don't turn the ball over against his teams and you've got a good chance to win, which is something Coach B team's have always been good at.
Exactly, and we have steady guard play, with multiple options on who handles the ball in the backcourt. I would like to play Shaka every year.
Nice! Love the high profile matchup and would love a repeat of our last game vs a Shaka Smart coached team.
I liked our first matchup vs Shaka Smart more than last year's, which was kind of boring.
We'd have 4 ball handlers on the court at at times their poor players appeared to be thinking, "Why am I even wasting my energy".
I believe Texas is home, while UCLA and Cincy are on the road this year.
damn you just beat me to it, nice user name though
UCLA and Cincy are road games this season (with Texas at home). Maui and UCLA/Cincy home games are 2017-18 (with Texas on road)
I was really excited when I saw that tweet. Until I found out it was basketball.
That was my EXACT response.
Initial reaction: Wow, top two teams in college football history. What a coup!
Upon learning the actual news: But Texans don't even CARE about basketball!
Have you mentioned this to other UT fans? Don't you think that's some information that they might like to know?
Just need to trick them into thinking it's some sort of an indoor football exhibition, they'll catch on by the second half.
They have made changes to the seating in the Erwin Center over the years and I believe there are plans for a new arena and Mr. Smart is exactly that--very smart, so things will be better
When you have coaches named Strong and Smart you can't go wrong.
Fun fact: the NCAA Basketball Tournament began in 1939.
Since that time, only two SEC teams other than Kentucky have reached the championship game -- Arkansas and Florida. Their combined record in that game is 3-2.
(I know that Texas is the Big 12, but most of the South is in the SEC)
Am looking forward to making the trip to AA
Actually, I think it is 2024 and 2027. Oklahoma intervenes in 2025 and 2026, so really that four year period will be an interesting stretch as far as OOC scheduling goes, at least what little we know of it right now. Hopefully, at least one other Power 5 opponent makes it on there for those years too.

Are we sure this isn't a typo? Would sound much more realistic if it was UTSA or something.

That doesn't disprove his point. Our marquee noncon games over the past 3 years have not gone our way for the most part.
For sure, and just because we won last year of course does not mean we'll win this year. Just saying that last year's Texas game is a more relevant data point than our non-Texas games last year. That's all...

Hopefully this game lands on a weekend. As a resident of Austin it would be great to have a bunch of Wolverines comes down here. Best city in the world.... just remember to go home after :)
One thing to keep in mind about the 17-18 schedule is that MSU will likely be road-only
So happy to have a rare chance to see UM play live. Hopefully this will go better than last year's SMU game, which I drove up to Dallas for. That was an ugly beatdown.
Start working at home with Google! It's by-far the best job I've had. Last Wednesday I got a brand new BMW since getting a check for $6474 this - 4 weeks past. I began this 8-months ago and immediately was bringing home at least $77 per hour. I work through this link, go to tech tab for work detail.
