Marginal Silver Lining

While trying to fall asleep last night, and being unable to secondary to still present and multiplying hockey rage, my mind kept racing to find temporary closure. With permanent acceptance of what happened not being an option, being pacified long enough to fall asleep was all I could ask for. I was finally relieved by the thought that at least as far as dong punches go, this is what we are supposed to get. I am not saying that we deserved to be punched in the dong, and I could function just fine if we didn't receive another for years and years. But, when we suffer like this, it feels more appropriate when it's prevention from achieving greatness. If we experience discomfort, it should be from losing to an elite/historic program in the Rose Bowl by way of last second field goal. Not from losing to God damn Purdue for the second straight year while their coach who is 75% cartoon mad-scientist and 25% Fraggle dances in front of our head coach at mid-field. Having a spot in the Frozen Four taken from us, after outplaying the #1 ranked team in the country on a neutral sheet of ice, at least feels like a return to the standard variety dong punches we are accustomed to as Michigan fans. Not making the NCAA tournament by way of exit in the CCHA tourney, although not creating an equal severity of pain, would have been frustratingly incongruous.
