Making fun of Sparty on a Tuesday

Submitted by WoodleyIsBeast on September 27th, 2022 at 11:21 AM

Seriously, why not? The amount of offseason trash talk(heck, even 10 days ago) from Sparty nation is making this so fun to watch.

Maryland is now favored to beat MSU by 7.5(!) points this upcoming Saturday. Maryland, Rutgers, Illinois and Indiana are all 3-1. Remaining teams for Sparty are OSU, PSU, Michigan and Wisconsin. That's 26-6 for their remaining 2022 opponents.

Bowl eligibility trending down by the day......Special shoutout to the Tuck Comin'/Deep Water/Woodshed/$95 million was Justified/Keep Choppin' crowd in East Lansing. And who cares if we blew last year's game? Get your tickets for 10/29, going to be fun to get Paul back.

They're a laughingstock right now and for good reason.

Having said that, Mel has reached the pinnacle of employment: he can do a great job for his pride or a terrible job and still get paid. Dude's playing with house money and that's the dream, isn't it?

Hoping the ROI on that 10 year contract is next to nil. Early returns are promising.

unless you simply aren't capable of delivering a $9 million performance....  Many thought Tuck was over his head when he took the job.... he had a pretty good season last year and cashed in big time (msu's fault not his, imo they were so afraid of losing him after that season, that they went overboard and will soon regret it).....  i'm guessing that was as good as he will do in EL.

And here's the best thing. Remember all the rumors about Tuck going to LSU?

Instead, MSU gets nervous and signs Tuck to an outrageous new contract and Brian Kelly leaves ND to go coach LSU.

Thanks, MSU. Not only have you overpaid for a mediocre coach, but doing so enabled Brian Kelly to leave ND in a crappy situation when he bolted for the open LSU job.

Well done!

I disagree!  I don't think that left ND in a bad situation - I think losing B Kelly will probbaly be one of the best things to happen to ND, I think he'll flame out at LSU (although ND's coach hasn't been so hot so far).

But, yes  this was a completely stupid move by State. And I would like nothing more than to see all these members of the $100 million club go down in flames: Tucker, Franklin, Kelly, Riley, all of them ( I know they may not all be on $100m contracts but they're close enough).

Among active CFB Head Coaches with a minimum of ten years coaching, Brian Kelly is #4 on the list with a .728 win percentage. Kelly is ranked behind Dabo Swinney (.811), Nick Saban (.805), and Jimbo Fisher (.759). (Harbaugh is #7)

Kelly may be a jerk and a fraud, but he's an excellent football coach. It's highly unlikely that Marcus Freeman is anywhere close to being in the same league as Brian Kelly.

I view it more as having unlimited equity. You can follow your conscience, follow your own methods, march to the beat of your own drum at that level. And if at the end of the day your employer would rather move on you still get paid. You can work as hard as you possibly can, sans anxiety. That's the dream.

1) You are

2) Mel has beaten us 2 years in a row and we'll wait for the game this year (that's MSU's wet dream)

3) Question: Is MSU selling out seats and getting more donations than they were under Dantonio? IDK, but if so, that's worth and additional $3-4M for Mel vs. any other coach.

Exactly.  There's 2 scenarios if you don't make fun of Sparty right now:

If we lose to them, I will have missed several weeks of clownin' on Sparty (unacceptable) and now cannot clown on Tucker

If we win, I will have missed several weeks of clownin' on Sparty (again, unacceptable)

I see no reason not to take any and every opportunity to make fun of their highly overpaid "horseshit coach"

I'm in the same boat.  Despite them looking like a sinking ship right now, Thorne is still a decent QB and they have some talented WR's.  They're still dangerous.  Beating M will save their season and they will go all out.  Should not be overlooked.  At the same time, I have to admit I'm really, really enjoying the current shit show.

I ventured into RCMB. They literally have a thread if people would be ok with 7-5 if they beat UM. He can beat UM again, but as long as that fanbase has that mentality, we should continue to laugh at them, win or lose.

Their fanbase is pretty mad at the administration for that big a contract. They are stuck. I would love for them to be blown out again. They have another thread arguing about benching Thorne and how he has regressed this year. Going to be a fun game in a few weeks. Hope we put up 50 on them.

I'm intrigued by the Maryland game.  If State has anything this year we are going to see it in that game.  If they lose that one in a non-competitive fashion it is going to be really hard for him to keep their interest.  With all of those transfers, not a whole lot of guys have much vested in the program.  That could get really, really ugly.
