M vs. MSU at the Joe

Submitted by goblueram on

I guess it says something about the state of Michigan hockey that there is not a game thread and the game is nearly half over.

Sparty took a 2-0 lead in the first 10 minutes, while Michigan came back and ultimately tied it in the final minute of the 1st on two ugly goals.

Yep. This is the first time in 10 seasons I didn't attend the Joe game. As a season ticket holder, I go to every home game and games within driving distance. I had zero enthusiasm for the iron d game. I'd rather stay home and hang with my Siberian husky puppy.

I'm watching every game, but don't feel compelled to post about it.

It's depressing and just the same old shit I've been complaining about for the last 6 years. I've grown tired of repeating myself.

I'm glad we got the last feel-good moment against these pricks at the Joe.

Unfortunately it was only a tie.

Not that it necessarily means anything, but I was at the RV show in Novi Thursday, checking out the Class A motorhomes and a certain hockey coach, his wife, his son and his son's wife were doing the same. Not that it means anything, but a lot of motorhomes are bought by people to enjoy in their retirement years.

Maybe the lack of interest in the game on this board said something about the fact that it was being played between the 40th and 50th ranked teams among the 60 Division 1 college hockey teams in the country. LINK

There are 28 Division 1 college hockey teams in the country that have at least as many wins (14) this season as the combined number of wins between Michigan (9)* and Michigan State (5).

Has it gotten to the poiint where Michigan hockey scores are being announced at Slippery Rock University hockey games? Yes, Slippery Rock has a club hockey team! LINK

*   For those following at home, the Michigan club hockey team's record is 12-7-2. LINK

Sliuppery Rock has an ACHA Division 1 club team, as does Michigan-Dearbon, but Michigan is in ACHA Division  2. Most of the schools with both NCAA Division 1 varsity hockey and ACHA club teams don't have their clubs teams playing in Division 1.  Illinois and Rutgers are the only Big Ten schools with Division 1 club team.
