M Soccer Advances to Final Four!

Submitted by QuarterbackU on

Michigan soccer beats Maryland on the road in their quarterfinal matchup, 3-2, in overtime!  M was down 1-0 at halftime, scored twice to take the lead before giving up a tying goal with 11 minutes left...M scores in the overtime period on a nice crossing pass...

First College Cup appearance in Michigan Soccer history!  Congrats guys!  Go Blue in Santa Barbara!

Maryland dominated possession and scoring opportunities. Hail to Michigan for holding down the fort and taking advantage of their limited goal-scoring chances.

Go Blue!

This is an error Soony is not even close to being not able to play for cards. Goes to show you can't believe everything you hear!

Both Michigan and Cal have played Indiana and Notre Dame.  Both teams played Notre Dame to a scoreless draw, Michigan in Ann Arbor, and Cal in South Bend.  Cal beat Indiana 2-1 in overtime in Bloomington, while Michigan lost there 2-1.

In NCAA tournament play you are only suspended for accumluation of yellow cards on the 8th card. After that each additional three cards is another suspension.

"Postseason Games. Caution accumulation will carry over into postseason play, which includes conference tournaments and the NCAA tournament. Players or coaches participating in postseason play will receieve a one-game suspension when a toal of eight cautions have been accumulated."

per NCAA rule 12.11.2 here (caution PDF) http://www.ncaapublications.com/productdownloads/SO11.pdf

Sweet. Gonna ditch work on Friday and drive down from the bay area to Santa Barbara. Will be even better if Cal plays Michigan, my partner is a U of M alumna in grad school at Cal. Go Blue.

Damn, I thought this game was tomorrow.  Anyone know where I could find some highlights? I tried the NCAA website and there weren't any posted yet.
