M hoops in DC Saturday - lots of tickets available
This Saturday Michigan will be in DC for the Coaches vs Racism game against Prairie View A&M.
It's been quite poorly promoted - but the upside is that there are a ton of seats available. Should be a great chance for those of us in DC to see the team up close - the game is at the Washington Mystics' arena, a very cozy arena where there are no bad seats.
Also, since there is no game at Maryland this year, this is our only chance to see Michigan basketball in DC.

Between basketball this weekend and football at Maryland on 11/20, we have two de-facto home games.

Thanks for the info. I hadn't heard about this game

What's the spread? Racism plus 12?

Racism is always a lock for at least a #1 seed

I'll take Juwan at any line up to racism +69. Racism has less of a chance against Juwan than the Washington Generals had against the Globetrotters.

+69? Nice.

I have been to DC once in my life. 2015 when my wife and I ran the USMC marathon. I give it to the folks that live there, not my cup of tea that is for sure.

I learned the DC WNBA Team has its own arena. Nice!

Hard enough to get good attendance at home for lopsided warm up games, let alone in a city a thousand miles away.

Amazing seats for $60 (a few rows behind the UM bench).
But cheapest tix aren't too cheat at $45

Hhhmmmm......
I'm supposed to visit my wife's uncle at the assisted living facility on Saturday here in NY. I'm now wondering which ring of Hell I'll be assigned if I cancel Ralph for Juwan.

Not as cheap as these, but the last of the tickets for the Michigan at UCF game over the New Years weekend in Orlando went up for sale today.

Anyone know what that area of Anacostia is like at 8pm these days?
November 8th, 2021 at 4:23 PM ^
I work in the area, generally would avoid it after dark. Would recommend people pay for the parking at the arena and arrive early to park close.

I hadn't investigated where the arena was located. Any reason to think that walking to the Congress Heights metro station would be that much worse? I imagine there would be a decent number of people headed there after the game.

not great.

I waited to buy tix when they were wildly expensive (cheapest were $65 + tax and fees in upper corner).
Prices were cut dramatically from $225+ for lower mid court to $60 for lower mid court.
Scored tix in the 4th row at mid court behind the benches for less than the worst seats would’ve cost me last month.

seriously?
where is all that cash going?
some serious coin for a meaningless game in November

The team doesn’t play at Maryland this year, so if you’re a fan in DC, your next closest opportunity is figuring out a way to get to Rutgers or Penn State (which costs money).
I wasn’t willing to pay over $65 and was just hoping prices would come down.

I waited around as well due to the high prices and to see when the football game would be that day. I was pleased to see that the ticket prices were reduced to be much more reasonable.
I chose a 5th row seat at midcourt on the opposite side to hope for an unblocked view. Perhaps I should have tried to sit behind the bench / scorer's table. Regardless, these will be my best seats since my last two years of grad school, when they assigned season ticket seats based on how many years you had purchased tickets. (That was much more favorable for grad students than football, which was based on credit hours.)

I am happy you get to see the team in person.
to me pointless fluff games against nothing teams aren't remotely interesting.

Tickets start t $65. It's not the Verizon Center where the Wizards play. It's at a smaller, newer arena in SW Washington, I think-- probably somewhat near th wharf area.
