Looks like ticket allocation has started (and there's availability)

Submitted by skwasha on

Based on the following I jst got from the AD, it would appear as if ticket allocation has started. Also that there may be some availability:

You have been identified as a Michigan Football Season Ticket Holder who sits in a location with an open single seat next to you.  We wanted to let you know that this seat is available to you for purchase as an additional season ticket* for the 2015 season, and then renewable for subsequent seasons.  The cost of the ticket is $455 along with the Preferred Seat Donation for the corresponding seating tier.

If interested in adding this seat, please contact the Michigan Ticket Office at (866) 296-6849.  The deadline for this offer is Wednesday June 3rd.

Important Note: Other Season Ticket Holders in your seating area have been contacted with this same offer, so hurry as seats will be sold on a first come-first serve basis.

Go Blue!

Michigan Ticket Office

*Season ticket only, not available for individual game purchase. Maximum of 8 non-premium season tickets permitted.

I wondered about this.  I've got to believe that there are a lot of people like me who, as excited as I am about Harbaugh coming back, have gotten out of the habit of going to games and have replaced that time with other activities.  I discovered last year that my couch, TV and nearby refrigerator make a fairly adequate substitue for the gameday experience and I really dont see myself rushing to go back to the Big House anytime soon.

I really wonder just how much permanent damage Brandon did to the fanbase.  I'm just a 55 year old out-of-towner who's best attending days are behind me.  But we've got entire student bodies that didnt embrace going to games while they were at school - how in the hell are they going be compelled to attend now that they're gone?

One of those students you mentioned (attended 2005 - 2011), and while it was a shitty time in UM football (outside of 2006...in general) I jumped at the chance to buy tickets. I don't even make much money right now but it would've taken a damn catastrophy to keep me from getting season tix. No matter what the team does, I'm excited to keep these tickets in my family for years to come and to pass on my love of UM football to my (future) kids.

And i sincerely hope that each and every person does as you guys have done and re-ups.  A full stadium is not only more fun, it helps the team so make no mistake - it would make me very happy to learn I'm a severe outlier and representative of something larger.

But I just find this offer odd if there's a surplus of demand.  I know in the 27 years I had season tickets (2 on the 30 - 4 on the 20) I never got an offer like this nor did I ever hear of anyone getting this opportunity.

are harder to sell since most new season ticket holders would want 2 or more.  It's possible that no one thought of this idea before, or at least took action on it if someone did (offer the single seats to adjacent season ticket holders).  Otherwise, they have to try and sell the odd seats on a game by game basis which is harder.  Just a thought.

I has season tickets from my time as a student in 1988 through 2013 (unfortunately, started and ended on a dramatic 1 point loss- Hurricanes and Buckeyes..but many great games in between.). Prior to Brandon getting canned, didn't regret the decision at all. But an amazing amount of good happened all of a sudden and I am damn glad I was able to get back in.

2 years ago, we noticed a seat that random people would sit in at each game.  So we asked them where they got the tickets.  When they said it was from the ticket office, I just called and asked to add that seat to mine.  I guess it's new that they are emailing, but you could always ask.

Just bought regular season tickets for the first time this season.  Was a student through 2013 and went to games on a per game basis through 2013 and 2014.  I know there will be some out there adverse to attending games who recently graduated, but there are definitely plenty that still want to go.

Interesting, I was awarded, and accepted 3 seats this year. I would certainly, if offered this deal, grab a fourth seat. Did they give you the location of your seats? I tried checking my account on MgoBlue but the login seems to be down.

I was offered 3 tickets and bought 2 - 3 being an odd number and all - so I'm not surprised to see this. I wonder if they'll come back with an offer for an even number. I probably would've purchased 4.

I'm thinking maybe the week of June 8th. June 3rd is the deadline for the additional/open seats according to the opportunity, so I'm guessing it will take a few days to finalize seats and possibly offer section upgrades or whatever. Just a guess though. I wouldn't mind finding out sooner though.

What they do at the Rose Bowl for UCLA season tickets is NOT allow one to buy tickets and leave a single open seat next to where you buy. For example if there are 3 seats in line you can buy 1 or 3 but not 2. This applies for new season ticket holders or seat swaps for existing season ticket holders. They have been doing this for a number of years. Interesting this year is the first year one has to pay a tiered premium price for seats. It's actually a donation membership tio the Wooden Athletic Fund. It used to be a set 380 dollar fee whether one had one or two or more season tickets, it's now a tiered price per ticket ranging from 100 to 1600 per ticket depending on location in the stadium, me thinks they saw what the likes of Big Blue and others were doing and decided to adopt a similar arrangement

Been huge Michigan fans for over 30 years wishing we could get season tickets. We applied and to our surprise we got the email that we got two season tickets. We live three hours away and we can't wait for the privilege to go to all the home games and cheer our favorite team on to many victories this year and for years to come. We are both thankful and disappointed in Dave Brandon's actions over the past several years. Disappointed he drove the U of M to the brink of disaster and driving huge amounts of fan away, and thankful he drove the Uofm M program down and chased away longtime fans..........so we could get season tickets (our one chance and we jumped on it). Forever Go Blue!!!
