Last Minute Orange Bowl Ticket Question

Submitted by PeteM on December 27th, 2021 at 9:21 AM

Let me preface this by saying I realize that there's already been some chatter about this issues on other posts, and if I missed one that answers all my questions mea culpa in advance.

That said, airlines willing, I'll be in Miami Friday but I haven't got my game ticket yet. I noticed in a post early this month that Michigan's allotment was made up of sections 118-132, 222-223, 228-229, 318-333 -- roughly by the north/east gates -- whereas I understand Michigan's sideline to be the south. In any case, I know that unless you get your tickets from Michigan's allotment every section will be mix of fanbases, but my question is -- if I'm hoping to be in a section more likely to be 2/3 Michigan vs. 2/3 Georgia -- does it make sense to focus on sections adjacent to Michigan's allotment or focus on ones closer to our sideline? Or is it a crapshoot and maybe I should stop posting and get back to work so I can enjoy my time down there? Any thoughts/advice are appreciated.

My understanding is the stadium is theoretically divided east-west between Michigan and Georgia, hence Michigan’s allotment is in the northeast corner and Georgia’s is in the northwest corner. The south sideline (behind Michigan’s bench) is mostly corporate/sponsor allotment. So I’d focus on the east side of the stadium and trying to be close to Michigan’s allotment.

We got tickets in Section 138, which is in the corner to the immediate right of Michigan's bench and now I'm concerned we'll be sitting with Georgia fans.

We're in Section 142, which is the same general location, so there will be at least two other Michigan fans in the vicinity.  My sense is that people buying tickets from brokers (which we did) are trying to be near their team's bench, so I'm guessing there will be a fair amount of Michigan fans in our area.

I have 5 extra tickets in one of the Michigan sections, 329.  COVID cancelled the plans of a friend.  Was going to put them on Ticketmaster tonight unless an MGoBlogger wants them at face value ($195)

UGA fans have probably been buying tickets for months, so they will outnumber Michigan fans in any section that wasn’t held back for UM.  I don’t think it will be enough to make you uncomfortable though.  The tank in prices does show that UM fans aren’t traveling like they probably would without Covid around.
