Kork Coupons, asked about gay athletes: 'Nobody's perfect' [LOCKED]

Submitted by Cold War on

“There are a lot of teammates in my locker room right now who may not have a homosexual lifestyle, but they have sins, too,” Cousins, a devout Christian, said Friday at NorthPointe High School in Grand Rapids, according to MLive.com. “They’re not perfect.

“So I don’t say they can’t help us win. Nobody’s perfect.“

Bigotry: "intolerance toward those who hold different opinions from oneself."

Not respecting someone's firmly held religious beliefs is just as much bigotry as you claim Kirk is displaying. He said nothing that is inconsistent with Scripture which his life is directed by.

I'm not getting into this debate, I just wish people would understand the hypocrisy when this argument is used.

I'm not saying I agree with what he is saying or that you should agree with what he is saying. However, props to him for sharing his opinion, whether people like it or not.

Nothing inherently wrong with the sentiment, but wording could be a LOT better.

If he is a devout Christian, I am sure many of Cousins' teammates live a lifestyle quite different from the one he aspires to lead but he accepts them as co-workers. I assume he means Sams would be no different.

(This coming from someone with a VERY different world-view than KC...)

... of saying he's comfortable with having a homosexual on the team.   At least he's tolerant.

It always irks me, though, when people refer to homosexuality as a lifestyle.

Finally, I give this thread a total count of 63 replies before it gets pulled or locked.

Not everybody's the perfect person in the world. I mean everyone kills people, murders people, steals from you, steals from me, has sex with dudes, has sex with chicks, whatever. I think that people need a second chance, and I've always looked up to Mike Sam, and I always will.

I don't care if another person is gay, christian, Muslim, rich, or poor. I'm not sure why this is an issue. I'm sure the teammate would love his arrogant ass telling him that he's not perfect.

Why do we need Kirk Cousins opinion on the subject? I don't really care what the guy thinks, but why does the asshat reporter need to ask that question? So we can alienate and marginalized a minority group? Sounds worthwhile. There is a special place in Hell reserved for popular media. Or there should be.
