Kork Coupons, asked about gay athletes: 'Nobody's perfect' [LOCKED]
“There are a lot of teammates in my locker room right now who may not have a homosexual lifestyle, but they have sins, too,” Cousins, a devout Christian, said Friday at NorthPointe High School in Grand Rapids, according to MLive.com. “They’re not perfect.
“So I don’t say they can’t help us win. Nobody’s perfect.“

His background is pretty well established, this isn't surprising at all.
February 28th, 2014 at 7:07 PM ^
Were you trying to type "bigotry" and you got "background"? Damn auto-correct.
February 28th, 2014 at 7:24 PM ^
Not respecting someone's firmly held religious beliefs is just as much bigotry as you claim Kirk is displaying. He said nothing that is inconsistent with Scripture which his life is directed by.
I'm not getting into this debate, I just wish people would understand the hypocrisy when this argument is used.
February 28th, 2014 at 7:41 PM ^
That's an incredibly bad definition. So no matter how ugly or outrageous an opinion may be, you're a bigot if you're intolerant of it because it's different than yours?
February 28th, 2014 at 7:43 PM ^
If I critiscize someone for their strongly held, but severly racist beliefs, I'm a bigot?
February 28th, 2014 at 7:45 PM ^
Bigot - a person who is obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices
Nice of you to twist the definition to fit your argument though, well done.

I hate closed minded people. This kind of stuff really makes my blood boil.
February 28th, 2014 at 7:09 PM ^
aren't you dismissing his opinion because it is different than yours? I support equality, but that goes in both directions. He isn't doing anything to harm an individuals or groups lifestyle...simply stating his belief based on many cultural factors.
February 28th, 2014 at 7:27 PM ^
Sure, he is free to state his beliefs, but it doesn't preclude him from criticism. I'm from the Grand Rapids/Holland area, and those protestant two-faces are as bigoted as they come. Screw Kork Coupons.

I'm sure this would be your argument if he replaced homosexual with african american... I really don't like when people talk about homosexuality as if it is a choice.

I'm not saying I agree with what he is saying or that you should agree with what he is saying. However, props to him for sharing his opinion, whether people like it or not.
February 28th, 2014 at 7:10 PM ^
Not all opinions need to be shared.
February 28th, 2014 at 7:16 PM ^
I'm always telling people, "you know what this country needs? More people sharing their opinions on everything."

If he is a devout Christian, I am sure many of Cousins' teammates live a lifestyle quite different from the one he aspires to lead but he accepts them as co-workers. I assume he means Sams would be no different.
(This coming from someone with a VERY different world-view than KC...)
February 28th, 2014 at 7:09 PM ^
... of saying he's comfortable with having a homosexual on the team. At least he's tolerant.
It always irks me, though, when people refer to homosexuality as a lifestyle.

Not everybody's the perfect person in the world. I mean everyone kills people, murders people, steals from you, steals from me, has sex with dudes, has sex with chicks, whatever. I think that people need a second chance, and I've always looked up to Mike Sam, and I always will.

to "Pobody's Nerfect." It will generate less ire, because it's kind of cute.
February 28th, 2014 at 7:16 PM ^
I don't care if another person is gay, christian, Muslim, rich, or poor. I'm not sure why this is an issue. I'm sure the teammate would love his arrogant ass telling him that he's not perfect.

I somehow doubt that Kirk Cousins turns into one of the religous ranters from the Diag as soon as practice ends. Just a hunch.

As a Christian it annoys me when other Christians speak about gay people as if they've done something wrong.

Devote christian people are perfectly fine if they're not judging you and criticising you for not behaving like them.

Saying black people etc. aren't perfect is an opinion that Cousins is perfectly able to have. It doesn't mean he's right.
