All the best KW, disappointing to not see Kareem realize his potential with Big Blue.
Can't help but think of Last Chance U.
Kentucky?
IBM?
Big Blue... New Age Michigan fan, eh?
The Giants still might draft him.
Come on, man. GTFO with that big blue shit.
Why all the downvotes here? Sure, "Big Blue" is not the preferred term for Michigan, but the sentiment is good. Are the folks here so pedantic as to not be able to look past this?
I just saw someone on twitter say that one of our recruits wearing a Michigan jersey looked good in blue and gold. Should that get downvoted here? Both are good sentiments but show ignorance of basic things Michigan fans should know. If they are Michigan fans, they should be glad to get corrected here, in a largely anonymous forum, rather repeat their mistakes in public.
Yes.
Pedantic? No, it's just someone being way wrong. "Big Blue" is a completely different team, and a professional one at that.
These are basics. Get it right.
Desmond Howard has used "Big Blue" on Gameday. They should revoke his Heisman.
Love the irony here.
Yeah... People must prefer this past decade.. I hope big blue comes back .
Mind boggling
Very newsy, thanks. Good luck to these guys. Would enjoy seeing them on Netflix next year If last chance U picks fort Scott
Sigh... really thought KW would break the 5-star RB curse at Michigan.
he wasn't a 5 star by signing day
Serious question, but was Kareem Walker ever a 5 star? I seem to remember him as a 4 star but I may be wrong , especially as I know there's various star rating sites.
He was a Scout 5-star per his MGoBlog Hello post. Rivals, ESPN & 247 had him a 4-star.
I seem to remember his senior year tape was significantly less electric than this junior year that earned the 5*.
Kareem was a composite 4 star.
Yes, and was a 5 star on rivals
Yeah but I prefer composite. I feel like Im cherry picking if I go scouting site to scouting site looking for a recruits highest or lowest ranking to use in a conversation. Combining all rankings and using the average just seems better
Rivals was wrong rating Kareem as a 5 star so why choose to use their poor ranking? He clearly wasn't a 5 star caliber RB
Lastly as a Michigan fan I would prefer not to push this whole "Michigan fails to develop another 5 star running back" thing that I see posted all over twitter and a little here. Not a good look for future recruiting and schools could try to use it against us in recruiting battles
Rivals dropped Walker from a 5* all the way down to #181 in their final rankings. 247 dropped him from #116 to #328. ESPN pegged him as a near 5* and left him there. Scout ranked him as a 5* and left him there.
There might just be a reason that only the first two services are still going strong.
Maybe this will cheer you up: the last 5 Star RB Ohio St has had was Sam Maldonado in 2000, yeah, 18 years ago. You know him, the famous Sam Maldonado. No, you don't. No one knows him. He was the #9 player in the 2000 class. a true 5 Star.

Barry Sanders, on the other hand, was for the most part, an unknown. His dad wanted him to go to Tulsa, because the Oklahoma St RB room was crowded.
So OSU has been beating us with non-5 star RBs? No, that does not make me feel better.
It's been the offensive line, built by Ed Warinner.
There.
No, its because they have 2, 3 even 4 year starters at qb consistently
For more perspective - Meyer has signed 9 RBs to OSU rated higher than Kareem Walker. Other than Derrick Green, Walker was our highest ranked recruit at RB since the Carr years.
I'm not sure there is a position where there has been a bigger gap in the recruiting rankings vs OSU.
You know him (SkyMineralPanther) because OSU is your team
Mineral King took a break, just as skypanther picked up steam.. interesting
Barry Sanders' dad wanted him to go to Tulsa because he was an OU fan and he hated OkSt. It has nothing to do with the RB room. Fortunately Barry didn't listen to his father. Those were the only two offers he got.
What a shame. Everything you heard about him said the talent was there and he could be special.
Hoping the best for his future, but partnering back up with Mitchell seems like an odd choice if you're trying to get back on track.
At least we know they are going to have a blast.
This pretty much confirms that academics were the reason for him leaving the team. He has the talent to play on any D1 team.
I'll be rooting for him to light up Independence Community College in the next season of Last Chance U.
Seriously because that Independence coach is a tool! "Who needs to coach it's all about recruiting", sadly he showed that he was right
Not really. That was his Fr. year.
So after Fr. year has it been more behavioral or performance related that caused him to move on?
No, it doesn't mean that at all.
Walker would have to sit out if he transferred to another D1 school now. He can transfer again after spending a year, (or more likely just one semester) without sitting out. He's also getting an opportunity to improve his options. They'd be limited now to schools under the scholarship limit.
So continues the five star RB curse at Michigan
Sucks, but you could definitely see the writing on the wall
Up in smoke CC
I don’t understand this at all. He was the best back coming out of college a few years ago, showed some promise on his limited snaps. I understand if he wants to leave b/c there were some issues but you’d think there would be a D1 school he could go to. Ok if you don’t want to sit another year go to JUCO, but there has to be a better landing spot than that. The Kansas juco league he just joined had just projected his team to be the worst of the 8 teams in his league. It just seems strange to go from one of the best football colleges in the nation to arguably one of the very worst
And umbig11 seems to hint it is a behavioral issue not academics, so what the hell happened? Why this huge drop from being the next stud at Michigan to random Kansas juco?
Ask Rick James said... Cocaine is a hell of a drug...
The writing is on the wall. He was go wherever he greased through. It’s obvious he was struggling academically and it has a lot to done his handlers and the fact he felt entitled.
I spent a whole week in Florida w Walker, Bredeson, Gary, Bush, McDoom etc and he was by far the loudest person around and you could feel the sense of entitlement at the UA Game. Now Bush and Bredeson never spoke a peep all week, Gary was actually very calm and quiet as well considering the hype and the fact he hadn’t committed yet to anyone. Just saying what I saw all week at the hotel and the dinners etc and while he was w other players.
Ahmir "so devoted"...lmao...so devoted to Mary Jane....
Hear they have the #1 hydroponics program in the country -- best of luck to him!
Early morning eyes, first read as Scott Frost Community College. Glad he's not going to Nebraska
Which back will step up to be the next in line is the question. Samuels/Taylor now have a chance to earn that #3 spot and work their way to #2 in 2019; or will a freshman come in and take it?
