Kalis heading home, did not commit

Submitted by Beavis on

Said visit was "awesome", but did not commit.  Was reportedly supposed to stay through tomorrow, but maybe some wires got crossed.

What do you expect him to say?  Off course he will say something like it was "good" or "awesome".  I don't want to jump to any conclusions, but not staying til when he was scheduled to is not a good sign.  First, Stanford and Washington changing their minds about visiting a few weeks ago, then Stanford changing his mind about visiting last week and now Kalis making a very short visit to Michigan.

Uh oh, Stanford and Washington and now Kalis making short or no visits means that Hoke has lost his recruiting mojo. This is a very bad sign, and shows conclusively that Hoke isn't up to the job that Brandon hired him to do. By far the best thing DB could do is to fire Hoke now to prevent any further bleeding of the recruiting class, and then hire Jon Gruden. That would be so awesome because then Brandon could make the mascot a huge Chucky doll in a winged helmet roaming the sidelines. Who wouldn't want to take a photo of their young kids next to Chucky!!

There's already been finger-pointing from other services, so if this from behind one of their paywalls, lets wait until Tom's update or else beaverfeaver crew might go Ape-Shit again

Yeah, Kris Frost was a silent commit and would have gone to Michigan had RichRod won a few more/stayed on. Sean Parker was also a silent (and was actually in a photo of Michigan committs that Scout planed on using for their recruiting magazine). Wayne Morgan was a silent as everyone knows. Yada yada yada the point is that Tom can only report what the current situation is. Kids change their minds and it doesn't mean that someone was wrong.

It's awesome when the only example you can think of was an extremely twisted recruiting scenario in which a kid wanted to come to Michigan, but his coach was fired, so he committed to another school, but the school's recruiting class was full and might not be able to take him, so the door to U-M reopened a little bit, and then the other school determined that they had enough room left.

But Tom was wrong that one time.  Hahaha.  What a loser he is.  Here, let me piss in his cereal.

Between you and Section 1, I can't decide which one is more of a sourpuss.

care to elaborate?   What TVH post are you talking about (buckle up?) and why do you think this IS about Kalis and IS NOT positive?   Sounds to me based on TVH's latest tweet that he was expecting a commit tonight, but it's not happening quite yet.  Hard to say if this was even Kalis-related as it could also have been Wilson (who was meeting with coaches today) or Wormley who seems to be a strong lean but is keeping everyone guessing about his timeline.

and the paysites thought that Kalis was going to commit tonight, but that it didn't end up happening.

The "not positive" meant "I'm not positive Tom was talking about Kalis, it just would fit in with what everyone else seemed to be hearing and thinking" rather than "the information is not good news."

Thanks for the clarification.  I think we all need to take a deep breath and then crack open another beer or two before getting a good night's rest.

Nothing is certain, but I can't help but feel more good news is imminent given the camp this week and where we stand with some of the prospects.  I met Hoke briefly at the DC event, and based on that encounter and everything else we've all seen and heard, I feel pretty good about him, his staff, and their ability to get kids excited about Michigan and help them understand how special this program is.

The timing would be right for Wilson or for Wormley, so who knows ?

But I am still stunned that "Ace" Williams of Chatsports could be wrong about tonight's three-way commitfest. What is there in the world that a person can count on these days ? ? ?

He's mutual friends with Erik Magnusen.  I know this because I'm friends with Kalis and apparently he blindly accepts anyone who requests him.  Probably a good sign...

Well, he blindly accepted me.  But I just checked and he's also friends with Chris Wormley.  The Magnuson and Wormley mutual friendships have to be a collectively good thing - not due to him being a facebook whore.

He blindly accepted you as a friend, but you think it has to be a good thing that he accepted friend requests from Chris Wormley and Erik Magnuson, two Michigan commits who are probably adding any big Michigan target as friends?

Edit: Blah, Wormley's obviously not a commit, but you know what I mean.
