Per Sam Webb. Seemed quite inevitable, moving along, nothing to see here....

It's HS kids. Maybe it's smoke that our coaches are dicks. But I think it's more likely an environment that has all the drama of dating in HS. Love turns to hate quickly. They don't have the depth of experience to read things less than black and white.

They may have said "look, you had a bad season, you need to up your (game, grades, whatever) or you'll be riding the bench" and he took it personally.

We'll never know. But I cut these kids a ton of slack. At 18 I wouldn't deal well with the full time front page crap they go through.

I wish him well. I hope he gets a good degree and has a successful career.

I wouldn't call last year's class solid.  It had two potentially good guys in it, plus a flier on a third.  Given the depth and talent issues on the OL, that 2016 class should have had like 6 guys in it. And its contributing to Hoke's OL recruiting woes much more than it is fixing it.

loaded up with overall talent

but Harbaugh only had 1 year of relationships with them

had to load up with who could come and did well to fill in the gaps from the 2014 and 15 classes

has 2-years with these guys

we have solid depth across the entire team with the 2016 and 2017 classes - I imagine the 2018 class will also grab at least 4 more OL

1 year is plenty of time to develop a relationship with a recruit.  So that's not an excuse.  If this team can't beat Ohio State, or can't reach and/or win a Big Ten champhionship, or can't get to the playoff in the next couple of years, it'll be because of the OL.

it probably sealed this

Filiaga

Ruiz

Stueber

Honigford

Hall

a nice OL class - if we add another, that is good too

8 OL in 2 years - 4/class seems about right

True. I hope we end up adding one more just for no other reason than they can be hard to predict from a development standpoint. Hard to say who will pan out and who won't. I would just like to play the odds when it comes to the lines on both sides of the ball.

But for some reason this one's is especially annoying for me.  There's no reason to string a school along and wait less than two weeks before signing day to decommit.  Yes, these are teenagers blah blah blah, but I teach my 12 year olds to have some respect for others.  Maybe overreacting and honestly never really got excited about this guy because he was never solid in the class but still.

With Becton now trending to V Tech, hopefully Harbaugh and Co have some contingencies.  I trust that they do.

GO BLUE!!

Per Land of 10 he said "things just went south." The departure of Jedd Fisch and the seemingly inevitable (eventual) departure of Drevno were big factors. Guess the 5-year deal for Drev didn't do anything for him.
