Juwan's Comment about Brad Davison's "basketball play"
https://www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/video/juwan-howard-believe…
This is how you make a cheap shot artist pay. . .Fire the team up and call the next play for the guy who got hit. I love how Coach Howard inferred that Davison cost his team the game.
We have a special group.
Can someone give me a hint as to how to make my link more user friendly?

It is a good thing the game didn't come down to a couple point margin for UW because that whole bs exchange was potentially a 4-6 point swing from how it should have been called. Big Ten officials are just a joke year in and year out in both football and basketball.

And that was probably the best officiating crew in the conference. They know Davison’s history and that does count for something in my mind. They shouldn’t enable a known dirty player.

Making a clickable link is really easy, OP. Get the URL on your clipboard and click the "chain" icon found third from the left on the row of icons about the comment field. That's it!

Are those icons so easily available on a phone? I don't recall seeing them on the few occasions I post from my phone. I think that's where most of these issues come from - operating a phone's browser is quite different from a desktop's (or laptops) browser.
February 15th, 2021 at 9:35 AM ^
Yes - they should be. I have an Andriod phone and use Chrome.
February 15th, 2021 at 9:36 AM ^
I can't speak to iPhone users but those icons are always present when using Chrome on my Android phone.
February 15th, 2021 at 1:16 PM ^
Huh... Fair enough! I use an iPhone with Safari, but I honestly don't recall if the icons are shown. I'm sure they are, but I just don't remember (no access to my phone while in the office). I'll have to look.

This is great!

great thread...i couldn't watch live, so i saw the reference on the espn story, then heard juwan's comments on the mgoblue podcast saying he lost control when he shouldn't have (that was my impression, anyway), so i was thinking it was maybe not as cheap a shot as i expected. but i found it on the replay on the btn app, and holy crap.
davison is king turd on a team that's chock full of them.
...and i usually love love love bill raftery, but he and his partner didn't seem to think it was all *that* bad, beyond a veiled reference to davison's reputation. so that was kinda weird.

That was what I has the most trouble with, the play CLEARLY looked dirty and yet the commentators were basically saying it was a basketball play and the only reason it could be interpreted otherwise was taking Davison's history into account. The whole episode was puzzling.

Juwan has checked every box so far. The mental toughness he has brought to the program has put Michigan in the elite division of college basketball.

I thought that was all Martelli?

According to RCMB.

Brad Davidson is a punk ass bitch-ass punk. That was clearly an intential elbow and the refs being pussies by calling it a basketball play is bullshit. That dude needs to get whats comming to him.
February 15th, 2021 at 9:38 AM ^
punk-ass bitch-ass punk bitch has a bit more symmetry.
February 15th, 2021 at 10:54 AM ^
No, no it doesn’t. Doesn’t it no, no?
February 15th, 2021 at 9:36 AM ^
Is anyone able to link or embed the actual play itself? I've spent a few minutes trying to google, but no luck!
February 15th, 2021 at 10:03 AM ^
See my post above near the top. About the 10:40 mark.

Honestly from this link I can't really tell. Anybody have a better shot of it? From the first angle you can't see what happens (I'd assume it was unintentional from the first angle). The replay cut after it was too late into the elbow to see what happened. Still haven't seen a clear view of it.

Man that laugh when he was asked if he called that next play for Mike and the 'yes I did!' was so cool. What a likeable guy. I hope he's here for a loooong time

Sorry but wanted to make sure you all saw this. Check Davison’s Wikipedia. Please post a link to show first paragraph and his “position”. Should be memorialized. Thanks.

and don't forget this gem, first sentence of the 'personal life' part of the wiki:
Davison identifies as a dirty player.
February 15th, 2021 at 11:57 AM ^
So he is proud of it? Shit man I’m all for playing hard and irritating the hell out of your opponent within the rules but wtf.
February 15th, 2021 at 12:38 PM ^
guessing that was more spoofing of his wiki like the comment about averaging '2.3 dirty plays per game', nothing that he personally put in.
February 15th, 2021 at 11:36 AM ^
The over 120 hours of volunteer work was precious as well, they just forgot to add "court-ordered"
Note: due to this boards unfortunate "Well, actually..." habit, I feel compelled to add...
February 15th, 2021 at 3:28 PM ^
Also says he "averages 2.3 dirty plays per game"?
February 15th, 2021 at 10:58 AM ^
I had recorded the game and went to look at the play again. It looks clearly intentional. He looks over at Smith and then purposefully swings his elbow outward and into Smith's face. It should have been a flagrant foul.
February 15th, 2021 at 11:12 AM ^
It was totally on purpose. He knew exactly what he was doing.
February 15th, 2021 at 11:16 AM ^
Well, CBS calls it 'inadvertent' so there's no debate, right?
I hate our fuckin' media.

Once more, we come to the aid of our brothers, asking for a video clip of the actual play. Please and thank you.
