If you decided to not patronize every business whose owner espoused views you object to, you’d be severely limited in your purchases. 
The world is full of individuals who think different things, many of which are objectively bad. I mean, We still buy goods from China and they are ethnically cleansing the Uighers.
That’s not to say there aren’t stands one should take, but you asked the question, why does Everything get ruined?  Because people say, and believe, stupid stuff. It’s just the way things are. It can bother you or not bother you. You get to choose. My guess is you pick and choose what bothers you the most at any given time and decide that thing X is ruined. 
For me, it’s whether that person acts on those thoughts and beliefs. 
As for Jon Gruden, I haven’t seen all the emails, and the link above requires a NYT subscription.  That said , I’m sure it’s easily accessible. I’m not going to look because I believe the people here have properly described what he said well enough to know that it’s something awful. If so, then so be it. I’m not going to get worked up about it. By the sound of it, him losing his job seems more than justified.

I'm gonna to go out on a limb and say that all people are tribal to some degree.  It manifests itself in different ways and some people are better at fighting back against those feelings than others. But people have to deal with that inclination.

I mean, right? Just because he openly derided women, gay people, trans people, black people, and the commissioner of the organization that employs him, why should he be punished? He seems like the kind of man whose opinions should be lauded, not silenced!

But then again, I've been in a coma since 1952, so some things may have changed since I was last up and about.

If it is ridiculous to sack someone for denigrating the commissioner of the league in which they are employed, women, the LGBTQ+ community and other people in various media repeatedly through the years, I would certainly hate to know what the minimum standard would be in your world for sacking someone....I mean, is this offense merely a stern reprimand and a loss of privileges to the executive john? Where are we at with this, in your opinion?

All he did was degrade African Americans (2/3 of his active roster), use terms offensive to the LGBTQ+ community (Carl Nassib) and make derogatory comments about women, along with lobbing shots at the league's commissioner.  Did he need to make a crack about old white guys for you to be offended enough to think he should have been fired?
