who take football waaaaaayyyy more seriously than the players do. The team is on with their lives - Some of them making arrangements with agents for the NFL, some sitting at home with their dudes playing Xbox... Very few (if any) of them are ranting about conspiracies every chancce they get.

According to the coverage of the team from yesterday, they are taking the result very hard. As well they should.
If you don't care about the ideals of college football, that is fine. I do and believe M always has. That includes not burying your head in the sand when wrongs are committed.
This type of unfairness should not be permitted. As M fans, we should all stand against it.

I understand your sentiment here, but not everyone has the personality to "just let it go". Some of us can't do that so easily.
Also, you are missing an important point. You say Delany's job is "to make money" and you are unfortunately right. That is all these people care about any more. And the way to potentially make the most money was for OSU to win that game. If OSU won, there was a possibility of getting two Big Ten teams into the playoff--OSU and the Big Ten championship winner. AND, OSU was practically guaranteed to get in, so they had a minimum of one team in. If Michigan won, there was no real possibility of two Big Ten teams in.
Do I know that there was a "conspiracy" to have OSU win that game? No I don't. But I do know that the Big Ten had a bigger money making potential with OSU winning. And I know that the Big Ten has made every decision in recent years based on making more money. And I watched that ridiculous officiating last week. It would be a lot easier to not believe something shady was going on if the officiating hadn't been ridiculously bad and in the favor of the outcome that could make the Big Ten more money.

You are on the high road looking down at everyone, huh?
It's not that simple. While I do commend your astute observation that the game is played by "a bunch of teenagers" ... you may also want to take into account that the achievements of half of those teenagers was corruptly taken from them.

Just publicly investigate and fix the issue for the future. A very reasonable request.

I don't think he hates Michigan but I do think he dislikes Harbaugh. He stuck his neck out for Tressel in the sugar bowl but was silent on satellite camps.

I'm not into conspiracy theories and I don't know where Jim Delaney's loyalties are, but I just have a hard time believing that somebody sat down while making the officiating schedule and couldn't see that having 3 ohio born guys, one of which is a die-hard butt guy fan, would be a conflict of interest. If they were banned from calling the '06 game they should have been banned from calling this game. This game was equally as important.

The Big Ten has a lot of faith in their officials. Bill Carrolo, who is wholly responsible for the referee operation, naturally has even more faith in his officials. He assigns what he believes is one his better crews to the M-OSU game, not giving an iota's shit where they are from because like in fields everywhere, people put aside personal biases in the name of professionalism. By employing them, he indicates he believes they have integrity.
Poor officiating occurs. The big ten has 3 options: 1) publicly acknowledge poor officiating, thereby implicitly invalidating the result of their marquee game and casting doubt over any game refereed under the bill carollo's watch past and future; 2) accuse the crew of possible bias that extended into the professional arena, something they have exactly zero proof of and would damage the reputation of its league; 3) say nothing publicly, and internally think about controls to prevent a similar situation in the future.
There's an obvious choice here. As Delany for the day, what would you decide?
Or is it still high crimes and fraud committed by mean jim delany?

Harbaugh is going to want to know who will be reffing his games on Saturday. If he see's a bunch of incompetent refs who are OSU fans he's going to file a complaint before the game.

I found this article from 1990 rather interesting and informative.
Has Delany tried to influence officials? YES
Has Delany giving instructions to officials to keep specific coachs "in line"? YES
This would seem to explain the mystery Basketball Technical given to Harbaugh...
Further, sounds like Delany may have driven out some of the good officials and there could be a culture of micromanagement.

The more I read this the more PISSED I get.
THE GAME WAS FIXED BY DELANY!

The more that I read things like this, the more that Delaney sounds like Dave Brandon. He will stop at nothing to justify his delusions of grandeur.

Notice that Delany is watching film with the officials in a weekly meeting lead by the head of officiating? Maybe Dave Brandon took lessons from Delany?

Also consider the power Micromanager Delany would have over the previously fired official in this game. Thinking back to the article about Delany dismissing the whole crew for sub-par performance in the Purdue game, I thought perhaps Delany was making the announcement for emphasis and perhaps to save face with the conference coaches...but the articles from the Chi Trib makes it sound like he is effectively managing the officials in some degree AND also trying to influence them. The power to influence the fired official whom he brought back onboard who did work The Game would be immense! The official knows Delany will can him again if he doesn’t get the results he wants and expects...
December 5th, 2016 at 12:16 AM ^
I do wonder what an FOI request concerning communication between Delany and both THE GAME officials and the B1G head of officiating over say the previous two weeks prior might turn up.

Curiously enough think the opposite, and believe he favors us and Ohio State over other recent contenders such as what they were. In reality I think OSU is his bread and butter and priority numero uno
