And yet because of the universe being a cruel, cruel witch, PSU will upset OSU on some bullshit, Franklin will get the USC job, and OSU will be hyperfocused on beating us for the division title.

I mean, maybe Franklin still has reason to be focused on Illinois.

If someone told me this Tuesday afternoon that Illinois @ PSU was still going on, with the score tied 46-46 in the 4318th overtime, I wouldn't automatically rule that as unbelievable.

After the kicking competition couldn't settle things (still can't believe they both hit from 60 yards) they sent everyone home for the night and reconvened at 9:30am for a dance off. They're now into the second round of a singing competition, after which it will go to a sudden death spelling bee.

Franklin needs to hurry up and secure a new contract this week before Ohio State beats his team by fifty and Penn State ends up dropping 3 of their next 5.

I like your optimism but I don't even know how PSU is going to limit OSU's possessions, let alone score on any of their own.  And I would hope Michigan could do what Illinois did in running the ball. (If Sitkowski/Peters can win there, so can our QBs.).   MSU might have to be the one, which, by all means...

Illinois ran for over 300 yards.  ILLINOIS!  While passing for less than 40 yards.  Penn State's main DT is out for the season and they miss that kid like fish miss water.  Ohio State will probably run all over them (and so will we).  Feel bad because Penn State was up there as likely the #2 B1G team and now, over the course of 3 weeks, they're spiraling downwards and Franklin has given every sign that he's on the way out.  Rough month for Nittany Kitties

Meh. Penn St usually gets a pass for not doing well. They claimed a right to the playoff in 2016 after we beat them by 400 points (injuries!). They got a cushy spot in the 2021 preseason rankings despite starting 0-5 in 2020 (COVID YEAR!).This year, college football is already apologizing on their behalf following recent losses (moar injuries!).

Meanwhile, the next Harbaugh loss will cause our fanbase to eat itself.

PSU claimed a right to the playoff in 2016 because they were B1G Champs, with a head-to-head win over another playoff contender.  Full stop.

What would have been crazy is if a Power 5 Champion with that head-to-head win was NOT being talked about as a playoff contender.  Those are 2 VERY strong bullet points on the resume that will nearly always result in a team being chatted about as regards the playoff.

The 2021 favorably claim is kind of bunk too.  If Michigan had beaten 2 ranked teams in the season's Top 3 weeks, Michigan would have been ranked at least 10th by Week 4 as well.  PSU getting to #6 was based on 2021 results, not some kind of "unfair pass given to PSU."

We will see.  PSU still has raw talent on the team.

As for the Buckeyes being "the scalp" --- let's get back to reality as regards OSU.  Namely, the reality is that Ohio State is NOT that great.  It's cool they are piling up big margins against Maryland, Rutgers and Indiana, but this is still a Buckeye team that couldn't figure out how to stop a good-but-hardly-great Oregon in many ways.

It's far from inconceivable that the Buckeyes will lose to other teams that fall into the "good-but-hardly-great bucket."  E.g., PSU, U-M, MSU, Iowa or Wisconsin in Indianapolis.  In fact, I'd be shocked if OSU ended the regular season with only 1 loss.  I don't believe they are a clear Top 5 team.

I love it, Buckeyes and Lion on a UM board. Hope we see more of it. Wouldn't it be great if there was a B10 board where all the respective fans could chat about all the games without any childish insults or slams of our teams? I think Middle East peace would be easier, but we can hope.
