Iowa game time: Possible spoiler?

On the most recent edition of the Audible podcast with Stewart Mandel, Bruce Feldman said it was possible the Big Noon crew was going to see Michigan “maybe four weeks in a row.” Obviously we’ve gotten clarity on the Maryland game already. But more fuel for the “Not Kinnick at night” fire.

I agree that it's interesting. The whole situation is flawed because Ferentz has been at Iowa for so long that he isn't really accountable to anyone. Gary Barta the AD is a doofus with a history of having made very poor personnel decisions of his own, so the last thing he's going to do is try and take Kirk to task for Brian's poor performance as OC.

Meanwhile as a public state university there are rules against nepotism but as another commenter pointed out a few days ago, Kirk worked around those rules by having Brian report to Barta on paper. Obviously this is a sham.

My feelingsball take is that Kirk has proverbial blinders on when it comes to Brian's job performance, which is exactly why nepotism rules exist in the first place. Kirk has dedicated his professional life to the Iowa football program for 23 years not counting his long run in the 1980's as an assistant to Hayden Fry. Obviously he cares about how the team performs.

But he also (presumably) cares a lot about Brian succeeding, which compromises Kirk's view of Brian's performance. Textbook case of why this arrangement shouldn't exist in the first place.

The biggest reason this game has to remain at noon is because Iowa does not have enough ushers to wake up their fans after that horrendous offense late in the evening.

I don't care if it's a night game at Kinnick, if we lose to this Iowa team, that's a huge fucking disappointment.  There's not enough juju in the world to help this Iowa offense score more than 7 points on us no matter the time or place.

Unless JJ suits up for Iowa I don’t see how we don’t run them out of their stadium. Then again, many teams who were supposed to roll have been snake bitten at that dam place.
