There is one huge difference between some assistants and other coaching trees.  The difference being some coaches are at least given the chance.  I’m positive that Bieniemy can at least speak English.  Furthermore, he’s shown at least the ability to understand pro football terminology for at least a decade.  There’s a small percentage of proof out there that even if you cannot interview well some are capable of working and exemplifying their worth.  So, the whole bombed the interview doesn’t smell right to some.  Especially when there’s no way you can tell me that Matt Patricia’s interview is being used as a template of how to embrace the NFL interviewing process and succeed.

Nothing personal, I have this policy with basically anyone I hear this kind of thing from (you know, friend of a friend, etc). So this is just rumor to me.

...But it would explain why he hasn't gotten a job.

Interviews aren't everything. But some guys also just aren't meant to be head coaches. Most people aren't meant to be that, in fact. Even schematic smarts isn't necessarily enough, and we've seen a lot of guys who are good coordinators just implode as head coaches, and then go back to being good coordinators again.

Eh. Not much new info here. Boils down to “Harbaugh reached out to him” and then a summary of his career and what he potentially brings to the table.

“emerging as a candidate” is pretty click-baity here. No word on whether the interest was reciprocated or anything. I wouldn’t say Harbaugh reaching out to someone is them “emerging as a candidate.”

Seth says Foote "probably not"...but I disagree here... I for one would think that if he doesn't join Jax, he would jump at this opportunity after seeing MacDonald do one year and then be an NFL DC with many team options.

According to a story on the CBS Sports website (middle of page under "Baalke dynamic sticking point for Leftwich"):

"Byron Leftwich, considered to be the front-runner for the position, has fundamental differences with GM Trent Baalke, and I'm not sure the two of them will be able to work it out. Even if they can, the fact that it's rocky before they are working together indicates it won't get better if and when they do begin working together".

If Leftwich isn't hired, Foote is going to looking for a new job because the new coach will probably want to bring in his own staff.

Foote coaches in Tampa, so the “new coach will want to hire his own staff” part doesn’t make a lot of sense in relation to Foote. He’s either going to Jacksonville with Leftwich, or he’s not.

But there has been a TON of issues with coaching candidates and Baalke. Including some candidates reportedly refusing to interview if he’s there.

Leftwich is the top candidate for Jacksonville. It’s a matter of whether they choose him, or their GM that obviously has a pretty bad reputation with most of the coaching candidates.

If I’m Jacksonville, that’s an easy choice. But alas, it’s Jacksonville. But Leftwich IS the top candidate, so it’s still a pretty big “if” that Foote doesn’t end up his DC.

Not Foote news but I saw both Adam Stenavich (Packers O line coach) and Kevin Koger (Chargers TE coach) are under consideration for the Broncos OC job. Not a bad thing for Michigan to have some up and coming former players making a name for themselves.

I think the Vandy DC now is a different guy than this past season. Quick google search tells me it is Jesse Minter. Coached on the Baltimore Ravens staff. Recall hearing his name mentioned as a possibility to tag along with Macdonald last off season. Would make sense. Linebackers coach. Fits a need.

All we need is a brilliant DC who can build a Top 10 defense, recruit like a champion with no other ambition and no desire to coach anywhere else but Michigan for the next 20 years.
