Interesting encounter regarding JJ McCarthy
Random meeting at a bar in Milwaukee of a gentleman who knows the McCarthy family and coached JJ from 2nd to 7th grade. Says he has an incredible work ethic and is throwing the ball 80 yards right now. He was on his way to a wedding, so I hope to talk to him more later, but interesting to hear the gushingly nice things he said about him.
I enjoy hearing gushingly good stories about people who dislike OSU.
If I was you I would have rolled my eyes and checked out of the conversation once I heard the 80 yards comment.
The only Michigan QB to throw over 80s yards in practice was Gardner. I think Henson could heave it a good 70 yards. Brady was good for 60.
In a real game I remember seeing Stewart throw a 72 yard pass to win the game in the last seconds against Michigan. Wow, that was a real downer! Milton claims he can wing it 85 yards! Mahomes and Ingram are the only players to throw over 100 yards on video.
85?
I think someone said he threw 73 in practice. I didn't see it. So I don't know. I did see a 70 yard pass in his highlight video.
Also, wanted to say: this could be the first mention of Joe Milton since JJ McCarthy committed. Now it's like, "Joe who?"
I thought I saw Ryan Mallet complete a 70 yard pass. Maybe during spring game.
Was the gentleman's name 'Uncle Rico' by chance? Lol. I did enjoy the story but just envisioned this guy talking about JJ's arm strength and throwing footballs over mountains.
FWIW, I recall hearing stories about Peters throwing the ball 80 yards in hike school and that didn't mean much for his UM career.
80 yards?
I know I saw two passes of 50 yards in his highlight video. And it looked like he was throwing it as far as he could. 80? Come on. I would believe 55, maybe 60.
Or is this post all made up?
