“he was wheeled into a booth Saturday and did his job anyway. Liberty lost to Syracuse, 24-0”

They lost so did he really do his job? He could’ve used that time to be constructive and read his bible.

This is truly one of the funniest moments in college football in my life. Being shutout is the exclamation point. This story makes me laugh every time I think about it.

It was a great weekend for "very college football things". The Tennessee sailgating boat fire before they lost to Georgia State, the Jackson State mascot getting a personal foul for jumping on a fumble pile, Freeze coaching from a hospital bed.

I love this amazing, weird sport.

Forgiveness is sort of the foundation of Christianity. Lol If Liberty, Baylor, BYU, Notre Dame, or any other religious school is in search of perfect people they will fail to find them. I just hope Freeze doesn’t bolt to UT at the first chance he gets. Liberty went out on a limb to hire him. They gave him a second chance.  I will give it to Liberty, they are more concerned about the Bible than they are PR nonsense that constrains most institutions.

Have you ever tried to sneak a prostitute onto a football field while you coach? It is so much easier to invite them up to your private box that come equipped with a bed!

For what it's worth, I know one of his family members and one of his defensive quality assistants and they both tell me that the whole Ole Miss thing humbled him immensely; he self admittedly let the fame and fortune get to him and think he was immune to poor choices. He supposedly has used the off time to fix things with his wife and kids. The family member told me Freeze hired the quality control guy (an extremely successful high school coach and principal who came out of retirement to take the job), the high school coach who gave Freeze his first coaching job, specifically to keep himself accountable. From personal experience, this gentleman is the perfect person for the job; well respected for both word and deed in the church and community.

So, I believe both of these people that Freeze is trying to change and put people around him to make sure he does. That doesn't excuse the past, but people can change.

So not to pile on your friend Hugh, but he made some pretty, pretty bad choices and has somehow landed on his feet (current hospital bed situation notwithstanding). I don’t think he belongs in the stocks for the rest of his life, but let’s call a spade a spade here.

His situation reminds of a joke I once heard... There was a guy talking to his friend, lamenting the lack of fairness of the world, particularly about nicknames bestowed on people. “Well look at Johnny The Shipbuilder! That guy has only built a dozen ships, why does he get a cool nickname like that?  Or Frank The Archer. I mean, yea, he’s good with a bow, but so are a lot of people. Me? I spent thirty years building the most magnificent houses in all of the land, all by hand! But I hump just one goat...”

Hugh may actually be a great guy today but...

To be clear, I've never met the man and can only judge based on quality people we mutually know.

But, yea, I get it. I almost added a comment about how the jokes will always be there and that's something he should have known 1.) When he signed up and 2.) When he made said poor choices.

My point was that it's often easy to sit behind a keyboard, joke and write someone off when if it were you, you would most likely appreciate a second chance. But you damn well know that the jokes don't go away, either.

And if granted the second chance, you better be a saint. Or at least win a few football games while not calling an escort service...

I wonder which poor choices Freeze regrets?

Using a school issued phone to hire escorts - Yes!

Hiring escorts over a number of years - ??

Lying to recruits about the NCAA investigation - ??

Lying about lying to recruits - ??

Blaming Houston Nutt for the NCAA violations - Yes!

Cheating so blatantly that the NCAA punished Ole Miss - ??

All the hypocrisy and self righteousness - ??

I think you're overlooking the fact that the cynicism surrounding Freeze isn't misplaced. The guy's entire history as a public figure has been a pattern of lying and cheating to advance his career. The sexual misconduct isn't an aberration in some larger pattern of piousness. The piousness was always a sham and once again he's used it to his benefit to land on his feet.

It's not like he lost the millions he made from being a scumbag. He doesn't need or deserve any pity. If he needs someone looking over his shoulder to ensure that he's not dialing up hookers then clearly he doesn't have the type of self-control that one should expect from a leader of young men.

I created an account because I was so disgusted by someone having the audacity to write apologetically about that POS on this forum. Next you'll be telling us how truly committed Urban Meyer is to faith and family…

Didn't I read somewhere that Huge Freeze recently had a body part bitten off by a Korean hooker?  I wish I could find it or at least remember more details...

Is that unfortunate alleged "injury" why he had to coach from a hospital bed?

He plans on flying to Louisiana for the Flames’ next game against the Ragin’ Cajuns, because college football is a sport for psychos.

I have this image of an ambulance following the equipment bus, seeing as Freeze is more or less equipment that needs loading and unloading for the time being....
