Honestly, I had forgotten about Eddie McDoom. Nice to see he’s doing well at S Florida. Would sure be nice to have Aubrey Solomon this year.....

Magnus also does a weekly feature covering former players

I was going to do a shameless self-plug, so thanks for getting to it before I did. I post those every week.

And your list is complete too. Keith Washington (WVU) and Nolan Ulizio (Pitt) are both starters on Power 5 teams, and the author doesn't even have them on his list.

Interestingly, it generally looks like transferring is a bad idea for the player's future. Not one of these players appears to be looking at an NFL future, and most aren't getting appreciable playing time on their new teams. They would've been better off to stay at Michigan and finish their degrees.

That is probably why many of them transferred in the first place. They were probably falling behind younger players on the depth chart, and their opportunity for playing time at Michigan was evaporating.
And to Harbaugh's and the players's credit, some of these kids are getting their degrees early and then transferring. Brandon Peters, Ben St. Juste, Ron Johnson were all graduate transfers and received immediate eligibility.

Aubrey Solomon just isn't that good. He showed flashes here but could never stay on the field and wasn't consistent when he was on the field. I really doubt him being here this year would have changed anything about our defense.

Another big body in the middle is just what is currently missing, although luckily Don Brown is a great coach and has now successfully schemed around that issue. Still though, any power running attack going forward we are going to have issues with.

Aubrey Solomon just isn't that good.
That's not true. He looked great at times. However, to hear it told he wasn't a hard worker which made him inconsistent. Sometimes a good coach can motivate a lazy player. Sometimes not.

No he just really isn’t as good as everyone thought he’d be. Him transferring left a hole in umich’s DT depth for sure
October 11th, 2019 at 5:55 PM ^
Yup. Most Tennessee reports I have read about him have been lukewarm at best. They were expecting a 5-star beast, and he has looked average.
Michigan could have used him given our depth issue at DT, but I don't think he would have materially changed the course of this season.

None of these guys are really doing well except maybe Asiasi who is only getting 3 catches a game. Wheatly hasn't seen the field for Morgan State, many guys are academically ineligible or taking academic redshirts at new schools.
Drew Singleton and James Hudson seem to be playing okay. McDoom has 4 catches total.
October 11th, 2019 at 11:10 AM ^
Hudson isn't eligible. You probably mean St. Juste.

Keith Washington has 3 picks and 6 PBUs in 5 games...
He looked good last season as well.
October 11th, 2019 at 3:11 PM ^
Yeah, I was wondering why the author omitted Keith Washington. He is one of the few players who have transferred who could have still had an impact on this Michigan team.
The list also omits Nolan Ulizio who is a starter for Pittsburgh.

He looked good in his last action as a Wolverine too!

Add Aubrey to the list of five stars who came to AA to realize their 2 star potential
October 11th, 2019 at 12:27 PM ^
Tyrone Wheatley Jr... Man, shit has just not worked out for him. I wonder if he just isn’t that talented and was living off the name, or if he’s just had a bunch of bad brakes
October 11th, 2019 at 1:10 PM ^
Not that it matters now, but I think it was always a mistake for him to be playing the tight end position. He would have been a better tight end in the 1980s or 1990s, but not in today's game. He should have played defensive end, in my opinion.
October 11th, 2019 at 2:21 PM ^
Agreed. And I still think Asiasi should be playing DL.
October 11th, 2019 at 12:56 PM ^
Guy on that list I was most hopeful for was Asiasi, was bummed when he transferred. I know he wanted to be closer to family but I think he would of thrived in our O. But not the Gattis O.
October 11th, 2019 at 1:57 PM ^
Asiasi and Solomon would both be starters had they stayed at UM. Hudson would likely be competing for a starting spot.
October 11th, 2019 at 2:20 PM ^
Their play so far suggests otherwise. Solomon has been a disappointment for terrible Tennessee team. Asiasi has been OK, but nowhere near the hype he received when he transferred.
The jury is still out on Hudson, but seeing that he wasn't ahead of Stueber, it is not a given that he would be starting.
October 11th, 2019 at 2:17 PM ^
Short version: nothing to write home about. Aubrey Solomon has been a disappointment so far at Tennessee. Devin Asiasi has been OK for a terrible UCLA team. Oliver Martin is not on the two-deep depth chart for Iowa. Tyrone Wheatley Jr. hasn't been able to play at the FCS level. It may be too early to judge them, but given the amount written about these players when they announced their transfer, it turned out that they probably didn't need the attention they received at the time. I still think Solomon would have helped for depth purposes, but I am surprised how little impact some of Michigan's transfers have made.
Keith Washington and Kekoa Crawford have surprisingly had the biggest impacts, and I think they were some of the transfers that were least written about or missed here.
October 11th, 2019 at 2:48 PM ^
Nice to see Kurt Taylor doing well. I'm surprised O'Maury Samuels isn't doing at least something.
October 11th, 2019 at 2:59 PM ^
Samuels has to sit a year after transferring. He applied for immediate eligibility but was denied.
I also think it is weird to include him in this group as he was kicked off the team after a domestic violence charge.
October 11th, 2019 at 4:11 PM ^
For a few games at the beginning, it sounded like South Florida forgot about Eddie McDoom too, but they have been utilizing him lately from the sound of it, which is nice to hear.

What ever happened to Ahmir Mitchell?
October 11th, 2019 at 6:13 PM ^
So what are they doing? Why make a post with no bulletpoints???

I cannot believe wheatley did not become a star somewhere
