According to his twitter, Karl Kerska has committed to kick/punt at Michigan. Not sure if this is a PWO offer or a scholarship offer, but welcome regardless!

Truly blessed & beyond excited to announce that I am officially committing to the University of Michigan! I’d like to thank God, my family & my coaches. Thank You @kornbluekicking @kyle_brindza & @phil_jacobs16 for all of the help & support in making this dream come true! #goblue pic.twitter.com/qUdIxwSruu

He is rated as the #69 kicker and the #100 punter according to Kohl's Kicking, and the #22 kicker and #35 punter according to Kornblue kicking.

From Kohl's Kicking: "Kerska had a solid showing at the 2018 National Scholarship Camp. He displayed excellent coordination and ball striking ability. He was excellent on field goals by scoring 31 points on the field goal charting and finishing 14th at the camp in his class on field goals. Commanding his tempo and confidence should help him improve his kickoffs to where his field goals currently are. He showed the ability to roll out punt and scored points during the punt charting on it. Increasing his command of his drop should help his punting develop even more."

So correct me if I'm wrong, but we have going into next year a true sophomore kicker (Moody), a true junior kicker (Nordin) and now a true freshman kicker? Seems like he's either gonna be mostly working on punts or somebody is transferring. Possibly someone with a penchant for missing extra points and who has crazy hair

I believe that, at least traditionally, PWO announcements are made from the back of a U-Haul rental truck, and that is only because it is one of the few vehicles which doesn't violate any known NCAA rules, being available to the general student populations as a means of blocking normal traffic for one week in August each year.

Hopefully Harbaugh has learned to never offer kicker scholarships.... seems our best always ended up being walk-ons... let them earn it and then give them the scholarship...not based on what they did in high school...

It would be interesting to see a chart with NFL kickers and punters over the years and how they rank in success and longevity relative to their high school rankings.

You almost never see kids go pro early due to the nature of the positions.  It seems like more of a crapshoot then other positions.

My Alma mater really came through this year.  First time ever DHS made the state playoffs and now a PWO to Michigan is the icing on the cake. Dexter High School, a football powerhouse.  Who knew?
