Now that it’s official, I can be a bit more transparent.

Jett Howard was a very real obstacle here. Ingram was legitimately concerned about his place in the offense if he wasn’t going to be a one and done....which he’s not.

From the staff’s perspective, Ingram wasn’t viewed as a game changer. The staff viewed him as a 3 year guy that was  more of a top 40-60 level prospect as opposed to a legit 5star.

I tend to agree with the staff. Best of luck to Harrison.

This is silly to me.  Aren't they totally different players?  Doesn't Juwan want positionless basketball where the 2-3-4 are essentially all 6'7" wings who take turns with the ball in their hands?

Regardless of being a 3-year player or 40-60 guy this sounds more to me like Ingram wanting to go somewhere where he could be the star and play with lesser players than compete with top guys.  (Plus his parents pushing academics I guess.)  The reality is that Ingram should feel good about being able to compete with Barnes or Tschetter for playing time his entire career and Jett is a full year away.  Not to mention that Ingram wants to play some guard or point-forward.

Best of luck to him - I think he's going to be a GREAT college player and I wish he was willing to do that for Michigan and make all of these other players better with his passing and skill.  I'm sure he'll get a great degree from Stanford someday, which is a good reason to go there.  It is a shame we'll never see him play since he's going to a bad team, in a lesser conference, on the west coast.

Its ALWAYS about wanting to be "The Man" in most cases. Unfortunately, Ingram viewed Jett as a potential threat in that regard.

This is really only a blow in terms of perception (Ingram isn't really a 5star, and Collins is an outstanding on-ball playmaker), the real position of need is a legit center.

I think it is kind of crazy how some kids have no problem going to a school as one of 4 or 5 top 50 players in that class alone. Sure those are Duke/KU/UK's of the world, but still. Then you have Ingram who is scared off by a younger kid who is in a completely different class. Wouldnt you feel better about becoming 'the man' if you had a little competition for it?

Its just rather frustrating how no matter the situation at Michigan prospects have something against it. Akins had the door wide open to come in and be the man but chooses to go into a very crowded back court at MSU.

I mean you can't be upset to lose a kid to Stanford. I don't know much about Stanford's basketball program but he is going to one of the best schools on the planet.

Best of luck to him.

Hard to believe a program of um's stature is now going on 20 years with out enrolling a McDonald's all American. I maintain thats the most incredible stat in college basketball recruiting. Theres 1000% a curse, these recruitments never work out.

On to the next 5 star kid that we will miss out on. Someday things will go our way. But I’m not holding out any hope it will be anytime soon.
