Hardaway up to 9th in Freshmen Power Rankings

Submitted by drewro02 on

Nice to see Hardaway continuing to get accolades. I find it odd though, that Rivals is owned by Yahoo, and even though Hardaway is ranked ahead of Craft in the current power rankings, Yahoo named Craft Freshman of the Year. Also, I thought it might be important to note that Hardaway is the only player in the top 11 that was not a five-star coming out last year, according to Rivals. Each time I watch him play, I like him more and more, and hopefully he can cap off a great season on Saturday against Sparty.

Edit: I also noticed that Craft was ranked 23rd just a week ago. Has he really done something that spectacular over the last week to move himself up 9 spots? Maybe Rivals using this move of Craft to justify Yahoo making him Frosh POY?

  • Jared Sullenger (1)
  • Tim Hardaway (9)
  • Aaron Craft (14)
  • Melsahn Basabe (17)

Sounds good to me, although I think a case could be made that Deshaun Thomas and Jordan Morgan should get a look.

i grew up near where besabe went to high school.  i'm confident that he wasn't so highly regarded because the competition he played against was so poor.  that dude's a beast.  if he would've played anywhere but the north shore of nassau county, long island, he would've been heavily recruited.

I do not disagree. He can elevate fantastically. A little bit of Air Georgia in that guy. HOWEVA, I think without D-Mo feeding him under the basket, his numbers would be way down. He's got supreme athletic ability, but he needs a lot of work before he can create for himself too much.

Still, you've gotta love that guy and his effortless monster dunks.

You see a little Petway in Morgan?  What?  Morgan is nowhere near that level of athleticism. Petway was like Minnesota's Mbakwe.   On the flip side, he has better footwork in the post than Petway ever had.

Yes, of course Sullinger is going to be #1 he is in the top ten of the best in the NCAA let alone just for a freshman.

On another note if Tim played like he is now at the start of the season he could very easily be in the top 5 of freshman.

Haven't seen that. Do you have a link to a Yahoo page that says Craft is their POY? How could that possibly f***ing be? He's not even the best Freshman on his own team. Charles Barkley says "That's terrible!".

Thanks for pointing that out.  I didn't see that thread earlier.  I'm still baffled, like many of the posters on that thread.  It doesn't make any sense to me.  Jason King is a jack-tard.

Thanks again, bnewsom3.
