Cafe Zola, or you could get Fleetwoods and just hop across the street to the Grotto when they open at noon

The Jagged Fork is awesome!

Place looks amazing, I think that's our spot!
September 10th, 2022 at 3:09 PM ^
We love that place!

Looked at their page. What's the deal with adding 18% gratuity for dine in? People not tip normally in AA? Is that common in MI?
September 10th, 2022 at 4:35 PM ^
New York City does that too. You have to check you receipt if you don't want to over tip. I once served tables, so I always over tip anyway, but I think a lot of places up north started doing that to ensure servers made enough money to make a living since so many don't tip very well.
September 10th, 2022 at 4:43 PM ^
Yeah, I've served and bussed too, so I tip well now that I can. Just don't see auto tipping down here usually (unless it's a party of 6 or more). I guess I'd rather see the restaurant just raise their prices instead.
September 10th, 2022 at 5:16 PM ^
If they just raise their prices then you'll be tipping on top of that, no?
I could be wrong, but I understand the automatic gratuity is actually paid to the staff as tip, as opposed to a covid fee or some other sneaky charge some places have added. So I only tip on top of it to make up any difference between the auto charge and what I'd normally want to tip.
September 10th, 2022 at 5:11 PM ^
Lot of places are doing that where I live (not MI) as well. I don't really care if it's not more than 20%, which I'd normally tip anyway.

Can't go wrong with ANGELO'S....JMO!!!! (Catherine & Glen Ave.....I have no affiliation. No alcohol.)

Main Street Clark. Slim Jim and Red Dog.
You're welcome.

Angelos
Good luck getting in. Even on non-football Saturdays you’re waiting upwards of 45 mins - 1 hour for a table. It’s worth it, but just be prepared to wait.
Fleetwood Diner is great, too. Get yourself some hippie hash and thank me later.
September 10th, 2022 at 4:04 PM ^
I’ve never understood the hype behind waiting 45m-1hr for food, but especially for breakfast. Maybe PTSD from being hungry and “having” to wait for the omelet shop in TC as a kid.
I’ve yet to discover any combination of eggs, cheese, bread, potatoes and meat that makes breakfast worth a wait. Let alone at $20-30 without alcohol and before tax and tip.
Two sausage McMuffins for $5 please. I mean that may be the perfect amalgamation of breakfast ingredients in any event. And I don’t even like fast food.

There was a place here in the metro Atlanta area called front page news that had damn good creole food for brunch that was worth the wait, but it closed. There are also a few places that do a high class all you can eat brunch with stuff like crab legs that are worth waiting for if you're in the mood.
Mostly I prefer to make a cup of coffee and break out the cast iron, eggs, bacon/country ham/sausage, grits, white lily flour and crisco and butter to spend time making breakfast with the family.

Great, now I want breakfast and it’s 5pm out here. Thanks!
I was in ATL recently and went to a semi suburban place that had amazing biscuits and gravy with some Cajun spice to it that were almost life changing - interior and porch setup like someone’s home turned restaurant and a huge line in the parking lot - but gf had a reservation or otherwise - McD.

Go to Jagged Fork, as another comment suggested.
Angelo’s, Zingerman’s, and Zola are all overrated…
September 10th, 2022 at 3:42 PM ^
^^^ This ^^^ Zingermans and Zola are truly overrated for what you get, horrible values.
September 10th, 2022 at 4:49 PM ^
Yes. I like the atmosphere and people at Zola, have been there at least ten times, but never had anything food wise that I would return for at that price

Ama Bistro. Great breakfast place.

Northside grill or fleet wood dinner for chill, local vibes
September 10th, 2022 at 4:26 PM ^
Yeah northside grill is one of the best spots in town for sure. A little out of the way on game day but worth it
September 10th, 2022 at 3:39 PM ^
Brown jug is all you need. Park in deck nearby. Eat bad (but so good) Greek breakfast. Walk to game. Profit.
September 10th, 2022 at 3:48 PM ^
Ashley's did Kegs and Eggs. I'm not sure if they do it anymore.
September 10th, 2022 at 4:07 PM ^
They definitely did it for St. Patrick's Day this year - I was down on N. University for a meeting that day at it was definitely going at 10 AM or so. I do not know if they are doing it in-season this year though.
September 10th, 2022 at 4:30 PM ^
My kid likes Pretzel Bell and you can definitely get a flight there. Not bad eggs/bacon tbh. Put your name in and get a text when the table is ready. Easy.
Cafe Zola is definitely solid but quite the ordeal sometimes to get in and particularly on a game day.
Nearby Grizzly Peak has been a reasonable destination for early morning beer at various points over time.
September 10th, 2022 at 4:51 PM ^
Yep, Grizzly Peak has decent food and decent beer that they make, I know that sounds underwhelming but sometimes that's all you need

Afternoon Delight doesn't have drinks, but it has the best breakfast food in Ann Arbor. Pretty reasonable prices too.

Done Pizza House before - beer at 10 AM - reminds me of work golf outings!
Just breakfast alone, try Mark's Midtown Coney.
