ESPN is reporting Oscar Frayers who played in the tourney just 5 days ago along with his Older Sister and a 3rd passenger died in a car accident this morning. Sad for the NCAA world to lose anyone but a 23-year-old taken too soon.

Condolences to his family and hope the NCAA does a tribute to him at the games this week.

(EDIT) So apparently, ESPN is not a typo and the accident was Tuesday only 3 days after the tourney. but it just caught the media this morning. and the NCAA released a statement 3 hours ago.

One is obviously too many, but this has happened way too much lately.

Sending thoughts of comfort and love to the families of these young people. Such a terrible shame.

His poor mother.

The story reads that Frayer lost his dad in a car accident when he was 7.

Losing the father of your kids and then 2 kids in car accidents 20 years later?

These stories make me incredibly sad then incredibly appreciative of how lucky I have been in life.  RIP and prayer for his mother

According to local authorities, a California Highway Patrol vehicle was struck from behind by the car Frayer was in as two officers were assisting a stranded vehicle on a highway near Lodi, California, around 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Frayer's vehicle hit a tree and became engulfed in flames. The officers were transported to a local hospital with "major injuries," according to the California Highway Patrol, but both are expected to survive.

Yeah, not many good things happen after 2 am on a highway. Maybe it's not what it appears to be (to me anyway). 2:30 am used to be a prime time for drunk drivers based on bars closing. Not sure that applies in COVID times - esp in Calif.
