Per Steve Lorenz, he has entered the portal.

Well, it's kind of a good assumption that playing time is the central issue in Martin transferring. Last year, Martin, in his 2nd year, was supposed to get a lot of playing time, especially after Tarik Black was injured late in camp. However, Ronnie Bell, a true freshman, seemed to be more involved in the non-blowout game plan. Then this offseason, Sainristil has garnered much more buzz and coaching praise than Martin. So, when each of your 2 non-redshirt seasons has a true freshman become coaching favorites, the writing is on the wall. Martin is not taking snaps away from DPJ, Black, or Collins. And, he's fighting (probably in 3rd place) for playing time against 2 guys he beat to campus by a year and 2 years, then I think it's rather safe to assume that playing time is the central motivation for transferring. It was likely that Martin was going to see the field even less than he did last year. It had gotten late early for him.

I guess he's been slipping down the depth chart. All the best to Oliver, hope he can find some playing time. I wish the portal would drop us off a nice RB? You would think there are some talented RS Junior RB on the Alabama bench who would like to compete at Michigan for more playing time?

I know young men have to put what’s best for them first. But there’s no other way to realistically look at the situation.....He’s giving up. He simply feels he’s not good enough to compete for playing time in Michigan anymore.

I don’t know if it’s homesickness or lack of playing time (probably a little of both), but I do know that earlier this spring someone close to Martin’s family said that if he had to do it all over again, he would have chosen Iowa instead of Michigan. For whatever reason, Martin just didn’t want to be at Michigan anymore. I don’t think Michigan will miss him that much (at least this year), and he will get a chance to play more at Iowa. Probably a mutually beneficial decision.

The primary reason we care is because he was a four star with big expectations. UM fans who don’t follow recruiting are probably saying “who?”. This is a bigger loss in the 247 ratings than on the field.

Jesus Christ. I don't understand how some of you buy into Yoder's garbage.

He takes rumors that have a good chance of coming to fruition, and states them as fact WAY before they're actually fact.

But since many of them are likely to come true and do come true, he looks like he has great inside info, which he definitely does not.

It's extremely disrespectful to the actual insiders who vet information thoroughly and don't jump the gun at the risk of damaging the program. The guy is a cancer and none of you should follow him or encourage him. He's a sociopath

My favorite in this thread are the posters who love to point out it is not a big deal a back up left then point out guys who will step in and be wait for it....Backups. So if Mike Sanstril leaves after this year will it be no big deal because he was a back up this year??

The point when a backup leaves is that it hurts depth in a game where injuries are very very likely. Plus it hurts next year when there is a real likely hood 3 WR are gone.

This breaks my fucking heart. I hope the best for him, but he was among my favorite recruits from his class. Was hoping he would be here next year to get heavy snaps and make a statement
