It's weird how different the relationship is with the media for Juwan Howard compared to Jim Harbaugh.

The number of negative pieces on Harbaugh from national media outweighs the positive ones probably 5 to 1.

For Juwan, I don't think I've seen a single negative piece on him from national media. This article here is like the 5th positive/fluff piece this week alone for him.

It’s amazing what a coach that isn’t awkward and semi-combative with media and full of weird tics, who wins, can achieve in terms of media recognition.

Harbaugh is just a weird dude. However, the negative articles didn’t come out often until he fell back down to earth after year 2.

Howard is a bubbly and engaging coach. He also wins a lot of games so far. Those two factors make him a media darling.

Howard also was much more iconic as part of the fab five and as a long time NBA player including finishing his career with the heat. So, I think he has more of a glow from that end that harbuagh ever would have. It helps, also, that Howard is charismatic, friendly, and genuinely great dude.

Well, to be fair, Harbaugh had his share of feel good stories from his career as a footballer both at Michigan and in the NFL.  He is fondly remembered for those times, especially as Capt Comeback in Indianapolis.  His glow wore off for all the reasons you listed, but he did have his 'good stories', too...

This is an accurate statement for sure.  It's quite a unique occurrence from a new to the job position.  Typically when one Coach or Manager in a particular field takes over a dumpster fire it is easier to win over the team, staff, fans, guests, clients, etc... vs. when you have to replace a legend.  It is nearly the opposite in this comparison yet Coach Howard is excelling regardless.  Another example of many, to demonstrate his bona fides and point to a very enjoyably successful tenure as leader of the team.
