Glenn Robinson 360° dunk
Pretty simple Glenn steals the ball and finishes strong last night. Seems he hasn't forgot how to do the 360 with ease.

Good for him. Hopefully he'll catch one somewhere. He's probably never going to be more than a role player in the NBA, but it would be nice to see him stick around for a couple of years.
post this every time GRIII is mentioned--whether relevant or not.
Why? So you could benefit from watching him play for free?
This line of logic is so old and weak.
The truth is that, all things being equal, young players tend to develop better in the NBA than in college. They also get to their second contract quicker. So, if anything, GRIII should have gone after his freshman year.
He'll go back and get his degree if that's something he wants to pursue.

At +/- half a million dollarsper year, a minimum NBA contract is ample. Realistically, this exceeds my max annual salary with a PhD. Hell, a player could pay cash for an Ivy League education after one year in the league (assuming he isn't cut). Even a 10-day contract with 1 year of experience would earn a player like $50,000. I would have taken a few years off of school if it was possible to make $50,000 in 2 weeks for doing something I love. Godspeed Glen Robinson III!

- A lot schools allow former athletes to finish their degrees for free now.
- I think he's already made enough money that he could afford to pay for school out of pocket if need be.
You act like he's going to be homeless as soon as he's out of the NBA.
Or, you know, go play in Europe or China for 12 years and make lots of money that way. And then go back and get his degree.

you assume GRIII--or any player--is more likely to improve his game by another year of college ball. The NBA would disagree with you. They kinda think they are very good at the whole development thingee.

The NBA highly values youth because they believe they can develop players better than college teams.
That is to say, a third year of school likely would have brought down GRIII's stock. Just like a second year did. There is opportunity cost in staying in school.
I know it's in your interest as a U-M fan to have players like GRIII stay, but try to take a more rational approach to the risks and benefits that players like him confront.
I think this is speculation.
NBA teams routinely put players they want to keep and develop into the D-league, so I think that's pretty strong evidence against your point.
if the nba is so great at developing players, why is so rare for a pick outside of the top ten in the draft to become anything more than a marginal rotation player?
Because talent is still hugely important, and there are only 150 starting spots in the NBA.
I don't really get your point.

Might as well turn this into a GR3 appreciation thread. I remember not being able to watch this game on TV. Had to watch the gamecast on my phone.
How athletic of a move this is...from the catch, to the power dribble to gather himself, and the layup...all with 2.9 seconds is incredible.
Jump from the K on the baseline to the block like that? Wow.

It was a hell of a basketball play. Really shows how much athleticism he has. That is a strong basketall move.

Anyone have any idea of his chances of making the Atlanta 15-man roster? Would be cool to see him and THJ on the same squad.

Who gave him the nickname "Pretty simple Glenn?" That's not very complementary.

A righteous dunk indeed.
shout out oj da juiceman doin color commentary
ay!
GR3 is in the scramble for a roster spot mode.
fans love that type of dunk but the coaches/gm are looking for effort, defense, ability to play a role, etc.
i think he has enough size and talent to play in the nba but fancy dunks will not seperate himself from 500 other guys looking for the final 150 bench roles in the nba.
He had another sweet dunk earlier in that game.
