Better to lose to the champ than to the runner-up. Still bummed that we played our worst game of the year (except for maybe Rutgers) against them.

They should play one more time to see who wins two of three to find the super ultimate champion.

Makes me feel better about our game I suppose

It's fine to win a National Championship without winning your conference championship.

Just thought Bama was a bit better till their wr went down. After that they were having to manufacture yards like we were. Bama was really good, Bryce Young was good till he didn’t have receivers and had to force some throws under pressure.

Happy to see a non-Alabama team win.

I think Georgia is a much better match up for Alabama than Michigan. Run first on Georgia is a recipe for disaster. For almost three quarters Alabama without their top two wideouts had more yards per play than Georgia. Georgia at the end FINALLY started running (really tried to establish the run the whole second half which was the right thing to do) and that took them to the championship but if they had any weakness…it was their secondary and their WRs. Which Alabama had the horses to challenge. Not having the WRs available sincerely hurt them. Georgia won and I felt they were the best team in the country. But I’m not convinced they are THAT much better than a fully healthy Alabama team.

Personally, I don’t like re-matches. Win your conference, and if you don’t, well, someone in your conference is better than you and they should have a better chance to win the title. The team that lost the conference would seem to have an emotional advantage in a rematch. Let’s say OSU made an expanded playoff this year, and played us again. I think they would have had an edge after we thumped them. We on the other hand would not have had anything left to prove—not that we wouldn’t have tried to win.

I watched them play Utah. I think we would have crunched them a 2nd time. They had no defense, and Utah had no pass defense.

The fact that Alabama could hang with Georgia while down their 2 starting corners and receivers is just insane. My big takeaway from this game is that Michigan and the rest of the Big 10 are massively behind at the LB position. These two teams can line up 4-5 guys that can accurately diagnose plays, rush the passer, stop the run, and cover athletic tight ends. We don't have anyone at the position that is that versatile.

I had the same thought as well. Really the entire front 7 of both teams, but the chasm is larger at LB

Imagine how much more fun the CFP would have been if Auburn hadn't imploded against Alabama. They still could have won if they had stay inbounds instead of going out of bounds at the end of the game. Without Alabama in the CFP, it would most likely be Michigan and Georgia in the championship game with all the uncharacteristic mistakes in the Orange Bowl now out of the way. I would Georgia to still with this game, but not 34 to 11 but more along 20 to 10 or so with Michigan having a 1 in 10 shot of winning.

That's why conference championship games are technically meaningless.

I do agree. I wish it would be conference champions only so the regular season and conference championships mean something. I hate the argument, "they're the best team". If so, they should be able to win their way in.

Based on the Bryce Young errors and the amount of non-called holding by Georgia on Hutchinson in the playoff, Heisman should be re-awarded to: Aidan Hutchinson
