Georgia OL Cade Mays transfers because his father's pinky got amputated at UGA event

If you thought Fields' transfer was fishy, what does this smell like?

For those of you counting at home, that means Georgia is seeing 4 OL starters and Fromm leave the program early, after the OL coach took the Arkansas HC job.

Kirby Smart sure can run people off.

He'll request immediate eligibility based on the fact he wants to be closer to his now physically disabled father.

At least that's what I'd do if I were Cade.

Mays was a five-star true freshman that started every game for them this year. Smart sure as hell did not run him off.

Mays is from Knoxville and his younger brother, who UGA did not recruit, just signed with UT. He's probably homesick and wants to play with his brother, and UT probably improved enough this year that they became a viable team to play for.

This should be the new standard for allowing someone to transfer

It's sorta funny how a lot of programs are seeing just as much, if not more, attrition than UM and yet Harbaugh's the one you see people talking about running people off.  Hell, something like 1/3 of Florida's class from last year is gone already.

Trolls?  I had to beat StephenRKing down with a stick in the other thread.  He and another poster were discussing the merits of Penn State's (!) fine attrition vs. the poor distrubing attrition at UofM.  Yes, the Penn State that had a kajillion people transfer last offseason, including their presumed starting QB.

Now I personally don't believe PSU has an attrition problem, not more than anybody else - remember Ohio State came within an NCAA waiver decision away from playing popcorn at quarterback this year -, but to say that Michigan has a problem and PSU does not is a joke.

People are angry about losing and looking to blame something. It mucks with their reason.  Yes even good posters.

This is less embarrassing than the fields excuse.

ill preface it with this, I’m a black guy. It’s crazy, but I’ve been black all my life. I was the only black kid in my grade for seven years.

fields using the fact that someone in the stands used the n word is nothing short of embarrassing. For better or worse, I got into my fair share of fights as a kid after someone dropped the “n-bomb”. Hell, I got sent to the principals while the other kid got a talk about embracing differences. Even then, leaving school never even crossed my mind (probably because my parents would’ve given me a whipping if I had even accidentally thought about thinking about leaving).

point is, fields using that as an excuse is outright disgusting and an embarrassment. Too many people stood in the face of much more and lost damned near everything, while you have fields bitch ass playing it like a draw 4.

Fuck fields and Fuck osu.

We should just let everyone transfer once and be done with the charades.  Anyone who's ever been to Columbus, or seven miles outside of Columbus, knows that there is no shortage of racists in Ohio.  Fields' excuse was paper-thin, but he really shouldn't have needed one.

i saw this when i was looking up this cade mays story and couldn't help but read it. i have no idea if it's true but figured some would want to address it:

Justin Fields' lawyer: NCAA waiver had nothing to do with racism

"Irrefutable documentation that has nothing to do with racism was presented to the NCAA in support of OSU’s request that Justin Fields be given a waiver," Mars said. "That information wasn’t critical of -- and didn’t reflect poorly on -- the UGA culture, the UGA administration or staff, any particular student, or the student body. And it certainly didn’t reflect poorly on Justin or any member of his family. However, that documentation did provide support for the issuance of a waiver under the NCAA’s rules."

Mars: The transfer had nothing to do with anything that would make anyone look bad in any way.  The real reason for immediate eligibility is based on irrefutable documentation.

Reporter: So what was the real reason?

Mars: Can't tell you that...  Super secret...  But it's ironclad, and it's really real...

Reporter: Thanks Tom.
