Game Week Posbang
The wait.
It's a feature, not a bug.
Football is a game of waiting. Waiting for routes to break and for blocks to set. Waiting for each play to run. Waiting through commercials and halftime.
Waiting for a week between games. Time to marinate in the last game and build anticipation for the next one.
And waiting for 8 full months from the end of one season to the beginning of another. Time to expunge any sour taste in the mouth. Time to explore other sports, other activities. To enjoy winter, spring, and summer.
Time to build the hunger. To consume the slow trickle of training camp rumors. To click on old highllights and new hype videos. Time to remember the noise of the crowd and the thrill of the touchdown.
Time to get excited for football again.
It's game week. The wait is almost over.

My favorite time of year. The temps are starting to dip lower at night. The cool mornings where you can smell the green grass. Autumn colors with leaves starting fall. The sound of whistles in the afternoon with marching bands practicing. Friday night cheers from H.S. football games in the distance. Tailgating on Saturdays and game day traditions. Nothing like it.3 more day to A2....

I mentioned yesterday in another thread hearing “The Victors” with my morning coffee. Well that was followed up with going to work for a few hours on Sunday afternoon at house near Washtenaw Dairy. I was serenaded by the drum line for a good 45 minutes ...a little better than high school whistles.

It's the last week of August, at least that I can see
The chill is 'round the corner, but it's here for Tennessee
Well, Middle Tennessee, the one in the center.
The one that hasn't yet be known to be much of a winner
But the Maize and Blue do not care who is coming through the door
of their house of large repute while hoping for some scores.
Because it's game week now and their work's made nigh the time,
to announce itself with speed in space and trips past the goal line.
There's Jimmy H, and Joshua G, leading on the troops,
Of Shea QB, Jon Jr, and a slew of hopeful youth.
There's Mean Don Brown, who ain't that mean, spurring on some dudes,
who will look to rip your head off but not target because that's rude.
The Wolverines are ready as their camps have all implied,
Who knows what heights they will attain but they're better than these guys.
These men from Center Tennessee will look round in despair,
Because they'll soon find out they'll want a door to get the hell out of here!
