Friday Posbang - The Universe Shall Get Back in Order
Mates,
Time to put the universe back in order. After a few years wandering in the desert, it is time to have normalcy restored, good triumph over evil, and stuff like that.
Paint the town maize and blue, and for all the faithful that will be in EL tomorrow, Go Blue!

They send one of ours to the hospital, we send one of theirs to the morgue! That's the Wolverine way!

That truck stopped about six feet too short. Jon Falk would never have let that mistake happen!

I can't find a single football reason that causes us to lose this game.

I've been following Micihgan football since 1982. They've always been ready and motivated.
Didn't do them a damn bit of good unless we helped out.
We're not helping them out this year.
Win with cruelty.

Been looking looking forward to this for a long time.
Win with character. Win with cruelty.

I don't know that I have been this hyped to play Michigan State in a long time now, and I would imagine many of my fellow Wolverines are in the same boat. Like some other folks, I've never been one to put this particular game above Ohio State in the pecking order of rivalries, but I am rather excited to hopefully see us "rebalance", if you will, this particular rivalry and return it to something closer to what it had been, which is our tune-up game for the last third of the season.
Rivalry Day at work today - curious to see how many Spartans show up in green.

I hope we beat the living daylights out of them and don't celebrate one play. Just business as usual. Nothing to see here, just moving on to the next bodybag.

MSU fans gonna claim it's because their team sucks.
This is the logical quandary they're in -- to say it's because they're not good this year implies a follow-up question: "Is this a temporary dip, or a 'new normal?'"
If the answer is "temporary dip," then there must be some evidence that a pipeline of talent exists. "Rebuilding" years happen; but it's only a "rebuilding" year if there's material on deck to do the building. It may be there ... but I doubt it.
They will never answer "this is the 'new normal'" because ... well, that's their worst nightmare. Their nightmare is, I think, reality -- with Meyer in Columbus and Harbaugh in Ann Arbor, they are going to have a very tough time getting regional talent. They don't have much of a national presence.
They have had a heck of a ride the last five or six years. For a time they had things working in their favor: Tressel at OSU allowing Dantonio to take some Ohio talent, and a coaching mess at Michigan, which gave them freedom in the state of Michigan. But things change. For MSU, change means a return to what they have historically been: an okay but not great football team.

We've spent the last year dying for this weekend to arrive. Let's leave Sparty dreading next year's game.
