Celebrating the Pistons win over the Hawks. They're so much fun to watch and they have a chance to compete in the Eastern Conference.

Have to admit I haven't paid much attention to the Pistons since the core was Rip, Chauncey, Big Ben and Tayshaun, but man do I dig your choice of swill this evening!

and have the 2nd best record in the Eastern Conference. They beat the Warriors (in fact they had to come back from double digits to beat them) and looked really good. They're playing like a team. Complete opposite from last season.

These first few weeks of the season have been fantastic, as a Pistons fan. Add in the struggles of the Cavs (Thomas should be back soon though) and it's pretty tough to find something to complain about.
Got to give props to SVG for being willing to revamp and shift his offensive principles.

are actually the same but executed a lot better. The only difference is he had Dre at the elbow and run the offense through him. It's working and kept him engaged without the post up bullshit.
Having Avery Bradley does the team wonders in terms of veteran leadership and ability to show them how to defend. I think Anthony Tolliver is key because he gives them that big body at PF who can shoot. I rather have him as the first big guy off the bench as opposed to Leuer and Ellenson. Also, the addition of Langston Galloway is an underrated signing. Gives them the spark offensively with his shooting and can defend.
They didn't need to depend on their lottery pick, Luke Kennard, who will be a really good player down the road. The team is D-E-E-P that they can go back to back without a problem because of their depth. I'm excited.

You're right, the additions to the roster have been key early on both sides of hte ball. Tolliver, while I'm not personally a big fan, has hit some big shots and provided consitency off the bench. Kennard and Ellison will continue to bounc between the G-Leauge and the NBA, allowing them to get spot minutes with the big team and quaity minutse in GR's.
I can appreciate why you think this, but they've transitioned from a pick n roll offense to a motion offense. They are executing much better on both ends of the ball, but I'd still disagre with the fact that offensive principles are the same. Involving Dre more frequently at the elbow and working through him more often, which is a change in offensive principle, has been a key. They're no longer relying on Jackson, or Ish, to facilitate movement off the ball on offense. They're able to spread the floor, move the ball more effiecnetly, and have some options when it comes to who to run the offense through.
Either way, I'm also excited for what the rest of the season hold.

Even if I don't follow the NBA like I used to, I can still appreciate a team that plays like a team and has built depth, as opposed to the Cavs or Warriors who bought their top three or four superstars t

best players are pretty much homegrown talent. The only exception is KD. Curry, Klay and Draymond are all drafted by the Warriors. Not their fault that they drafted well and Curry's contract was a bargain that allowed them to sign KD. Blame the CBA for letting this happen.
November 10th, 2017 at 10:23 PM ^
Fair enough. I probably shouldn't comment too much on the NBA since I don't follow it much. As a casual fan, I was kind of annoyed with KD's apparent "if you can't beat em, join em" mentailty, and therefore have a bit of a bias.
November 10th, 2017 at 10:26 PM ^
and the best team wants you plus they have money to sign you to a max. Why wouldn't you take it?
As a FA, you want where it's the best chance of getting a ring plus allow you to shine as a player. GSW gives him that chance. I don't blame him for it one bit.

What would you compare it to?
November 10th, 2017 at 10:12 PM ^
It's a barrel aged imperial stout...thick like motor oil, not a lot of carbonation (light head). Has a hint of cherry and very malty. I don't normally drink heavy stouts like this...would be good as a winter warmer. Someone on the interwebs compared it to Bells Expedition Stout, which I've never had, though Bells just started showing up out here.

Where's "out here"? I have had the expedition stout and thinlk it's a really solid beer

definitely worth it. and yeah, great likelihood of shooting more trees than bird, though we have the leaves off now so that should minimize that phenomenon tomorrow. figure it's a last real chance before rifle season on wednesday.
we're going to end up at the creek on the back side of the farm. i haven't been there in weeks but it is a near-guarantee of grouse there. hopefully some flushes tomorrow.

if he can make them, a huge improvement. it is an embarrassment that pro hoops player could shoot so poorly at the charity stripe.
confession: i am fine with george blaha as the pistons announcer and he doesn't bug me when i hear an occasional spart broadcast.
November 10th, 2017 at 11:05 PM ^
He has barely shot above .300 for his career. He's shooting over .600 this year. Thats an improvement.

Just got home from a dinner with some friends, poured myself an Oberon and am waiting for the Washginton / Stanford game to start. Good times here.
Even better, I came into the house without waking anyone up because everyone is apparently awake and it is still all go here.

The only acceptable drink while watching The Big Lebowski is a white russian.
Me, I'm putting down vodka tonics. Which, as I pour them, is pretty much vodka rocks, with a splash of tonic.
