Fresno States upsets #13 UCLA at the Rose Bowl

In what is arguably game of the year so far, Fresno State upsets UCLA on the road after scoring the go ahead touchdown with 14 seconds left in the game. FSU QB Jake Haener was playing in very obvious pain while slinging accurate throws to take the Bulldogs 75 yards in less than a minute at the end of the 4th quarter. What a game! Definitely watch a replay or some highlights when the opportunity presents itself.

Fresno State maybe the second best team west of the rockies. They play SDSU later this year for Arizona's spot in the PAC12. Poor damn Arizona. Not good shit Jed. You play for a lumberjack trophy you dont lose to them.

Oh its real. Brady Hoke back in a Power 5 coaching position. Isnt it crazy how he does much more with less at SDSU. Its so very nice to be a big fish in a small pond in college football. Rich Rod, Hoke, Dan Hawkins, Scott Frost, Fleck etc. Its funny but even in down years the Big Ten is just much harder to win at then any other conference with the SEC being the exception.

UCLA's greatness seems to have been somewhat exaggerated, still a good looking team but not the world beaters they were made out to be.

I love the way Michigan is looking, if we keep it up, that PSU game is gonna be something to watch.

A down vote? You can look through my comment history. If I said he could win the Heisman then link the comment, and I will stand corrected. I said all he does is score touchdowns. He had 2 more last night.

"I never once used the word Heisman when talking about Zach Charbonnet."

That would be, to use the technical term, baloney. You used it in one of your initial posts about Charbonnet:

"Oh, and BTW, the Charbonnet Heisman train has already pulled away from the station:"

While your followup comment was "Let's see what things look like in the middle of October and talk about Heisman's then" your implied message about Charbonnet was pretty damn clear.

Arizona with Jed Fisch and Don Brown lost to Northern Arizona for the first time since 1932.
NAU had lost their previous 2 games by over 20 pts each.

Funny thing is, the defense really wasn't the problem in that game.  Gave up under 250 yards of total offense, forced 3 turnovers, only gave up 14 points.  But the offense yet again failed them, scoring only 19 and not converting on a game-tying 2-point conversion.  And Arizona hasn't cracked 20 points all year.  Again, that Fisch season was fine offensively but this place's love affair with the guy never seemed to match his production as an OC and I'm not sold he's grown all that much as a HC.

I don't have argument with your post, except that the offenses he put together with Harbaugh in 2015 and 2016 were beautiful!  Except for a middling QB, 2016 was a steam roller with its varied lineups, blocking schemes, and play calling cadence.  The Iowa game is the head scratcher...  WTF happened there???

While I've never been on the Jedd Fisch hype train, Arizona averaged only 17 points a game last year in the COVID season. Of the two quarterbacks they had with the most playing time, the more successful one transferred to Memphis; the one who stayed, Will Plummer, threw 0 touchdowns and 3 interceptions last year. I don't think Nick Saban would have made this team good (and Nick Saban managed to lose to Louisiana-Monroe in his first year at Alabama).

Having said that, Fisch is not looking good so far. We'll see if he can make this team look better by the end of the year or more likely next year.

If we're talking about former coaches ... Rich Rodriguez is now the OC at University of Louisiana Monroe (ULM; in the Sunbelt conference), and they are now 1-1 after beating Jackson State by the score of 12-7.  ULM scored four field goals.  They had 94 yards rushing, 156 yards passing, and their QB (who is RR's son) went 17 for 35.  The team went 5 for 19 on 3rd downs, and 0 for 1 on 4th.

Damn. Poor RR. Here is another guy who doesn't want to evolve as the game grows and still use your basic philosophy on offense. For all the crap people say about Harbaugh, he has evolved and adjust each year. It just hasn't panned out but I expect it to one of these years (Crossing my fingers for Cade to be the next Andrew Luck LOL)
