Foster Loyer gets crossed up, and gets called for the blocking foul
December 4th, 2019 at 7:17 AM ^
I chuckled. No clue on that call. Is that a foul??
December 4th, 2019 at 7:47 AM ^
Yup. You can't trip a guy. Not sure what Izzo was upset about.
December 4th, 2019 at 7:20 AM ^
It is obvious that Foster is completely undersized and overmatched for Big time college basketball. DeJulius is going to have a much better college career than Foster.
December 4th, 2019 at 8:05 AM ^
Foster won Mr Basketball over DDJ and Johns. Hard to see how unless he was a mini Steph Curry in high school.
December 4th, 2019 at 9:28 AM ^
He sorta was. But he undoubtably got a huge boost in the voting for other reasons, being the point guard for the state champions will get you a boost (just as pretty much any QB on an undefeated team will get you an invite to the heisman presentation). His dad being an assistant coach for the pistons probably helped. Plus, the biggest boost of all was undoubtably being anointed by St. Izzo. Even though DDJ torched him head to head, difficult to overcome those other factors.
December 4th, 2019 at 10:48 AM ^
Didn't DDJ drop 40 on Foster and beat their team?
December 4th, 2019 at 11:27 AM ^
42, as a matter of fact ?
December 4th, 2019 at 8:16 AM ^
You know the duplicate thread Gestapo are out of hand when someone gets called out for having a thread title that isn't "MSU lol".
December 4th, 2019 at 8:42 AM ^
Can't even access that thread anyway. Not to mention that title sucks. Msu lol could be a million things.
December 4th, 2019 at 10:12 AM ^
I mean I thought it was fairly obvious given that MSU played Duke last night... just a hunch tho. IM NOT SALTY YOURE SALTY.
December 4th, 2019 at 7:24 AM ^
This got a moderate amount of puffed air out of my nose.
On nights we lose too, it’s tough to laugh at others, even our most hated rivals.
December 4th, 2019 at 7:32 PM ^
Nah, this was easy to laugh at. Bro got ankles broken, stepped on, and called for a foul. Izzo cringed and whined. An all-around win.
We were on an empty tank, on the road, against #1. No shame in losing there.
December 4th, 2019 at 7:24 AM ^
Tre Jones just treated him like a red-headed ... Foster child.
Thanks folks, remember to tip your waiter.
December 4th, 2019 at 7:37 AM ^
I saw this great reply to Ant.

It seemed odd that he would get called for a foul there, since there was really nothing he could do to get out of the way, but perhaps there is something in the rule book about ensuring a player has a place to land safely? And since he was basically laying under the basket in the restricted area they had no choice? Felt like it should have been a 'play on' no call.
December 4th, 2019 at 8:02 AM ^
He actually reached up and hit his foot.
December 4th, 2019 at 2:50 PM ^
You know your small when you have to reach up to hit someone's foot.
December 4th, 2019 at 8:38 AM ^
Fouls happen all the time for accidental contact. Plus, the kid is lucky he didn't turn his ankle on Loyer's chest.
December 4th, 2019 at 2:29 PM ^
You have to give a player an opportunity to land, especially in the restricted area.
December 4th, 2019 at 8:20 AM ^
That’s early in the game. Did Loyer start vs. Duke? And if he did, what are you thinking Izzo?
December 4th, 2019 at 8:35 AM ^
Foster was in because Izzo, being the greatest basketball mind to ever live, thought it would be a good idea to pull Winston to talk to him for literally 8 seconds DURING FREE THROWS. Could have had that conversation during the free throws, you know, like every other coach would do.
December 4th, 2019 at 9:12 AM ^
Loyer came in, got 5 points quickly dropped on him and then got turned into a surfboard.
December 4th, 2019 at 8:24 AM ^
I've voluntarily reviewed it fifty-leven times and every time Loyer is involuntary laying (post involuntary flail) inside the restricted area. Easy blocking call.
Also, every single time I've watched, I've erupted in and battled bouts of composure losing laughter, voluntarily.

What's more embarrassing for MSU? That play and blowout loss, or the football team getting hats to celebrate their bowl eligibility on Saturday?
December 4th, 2019 at 9:06 AM ^
What? I need more info on this bowl hat thingy......
December 4th, 2019 at 9:39 AM ^
From MSU's beat writer for the Detroit News:
MSU got hats for winning its sixth game, which say "Program win" on the back and have just the Spartan helmet logo on the front.

Definitely this play. I actually kind of like the hats. They're cheap and cost $4 and they aren't really visually appealing, so they definitely aren't something the guys really want to play for. Making a bowl game is important because it's another game and gives the younger guys more practices. But it's the bare minimum expectation at MSU, and the $4 hats are a fitting reward for that achievement.
December 4th, 2019 at 9:48 AM ^
I don't think the play is thaaaat bad. It's funny, but more embarrassing stuff will happen this year. That's not Brandon Knight being emasculated by Deandre Jordan bad.
The concern I'd have if I was a MSU football fan is that this is akin to the Lions hanging banners for Wild Card appearances. You don't want to emulate anything the Lions have done.
December 4th, 2019 at 10:21 AM ^
They're cheap and cost $4 and they aren't really visually appealing
Careful, or they'll make them part of an alternate football uniform.
December 4th, 2019 at 10:31 AM ^
Sheesh, too soon man. My eyes are still recovering from the sherbet pants.
December 4th, 2019 at 12:32 PM ^
+1 for correct spelling of sherbet.

"Jerry Stackhouse no-look confusion maker" If you recognize this quote, you know what I mean. I can't embed, sorry!
December 4th, 2019 at 9:13 AM ^
Bahahaha...!!!!!!!!!
December 4th, 2019 at 9:36 AM ^
Well he is built like a 5th grade girl so, this should be expected.
December 4th, 2019 at 9:47 AM ^
My guess is Izzo is furious that he has to have Loyer on the floor less than three minutes into the game. I’d be pissed too.
December 4th, 2019 at 10:05 AM ^
"C'mon ref! He's a "weird guy" with a weird name! Let it slide!"
December 4th, 2019 at 12:33 PM ^
Well I mean, it was Izzo's decision to put him in the game...
December 4th, 2019 at 10:11 AM ^
Bad luck but a foul was warranted. He is...not good. Brooks or DDJ would be a huge improvement.
December 4th, 2019 at 10:13 AM ^
THREAD HIJACK: Is anyone seeing the ad on this site for the reusable collapsible straw? It costs $25 and has a carrying case. It's motto is "suck responsibly". End times.
December 4th, 2019 at 10:20 AM ^
They certainly know how to market to the Michigan fanbase in early December.
December 4th, 2019 at 10:22 AM ^
Because we have disposable income?
December 4th, 2019 at 10:20 AM ^
It seems ridiculous on first glance, but isn't that the correct call? Loyer was in the circle, so he can't draw a charge. So if he's in the way of the offensive player, even if he's on the ground, he should be called for a blocking foul.
December 4th, 2019 at 11:17 AM ^
Whizzo looks like an angry elf in that clip. Heard he got a technical later in the game.???
December 4th, 2019 at 11:18 AM ^
Great Sparty, No......or Greatest Sparty, No?
December 4th, 2019 at 11:39 AM ^
Loyer is either going to transfer and be one of those high-usage, no-defense guys you see in mid-majors who scores 25 points a game and gives up 30, or he'll be a "gritty" 5th-year seniors they have glossy pieces about during the season on an MSU team that either loses in the first round or goes to the FF. Like, those are his only two destinies.
December 4th, 2019 at 12:03 PM ^
Or, he could transfer to Albion and back up the other Winston.
