Former Players/Current Players Reactions To Hoke Getting Fired

Submitted by WolverineOptimist on

Here is a link to my article of players both former and current, and their reactions to Hoke being dismissed from HC duties. I have have talked to Seth and LSA, and I have permission to post once in a blue moon. Link: http://wp.me/p4xJCj-ij

Why don't you just post it here as a diary? You're like five days old here, and already trying to drive traffic to your site? You should build some credibility here first, then try that. Magnus is a good example. I won't click, because I know nothing about you or your site, you need to get people interested in what you have to say.

Also, negging everyone who has been critical of you? Really? Very smart strategy.

Especially if you're still learning the ropes but have the ability to initiate threads, it's probably better to be a spectator and not upvote or downvote people but be available for questions if they are asked. It's definitely more tactful to state reasoned disagreement if you do in fact disagree rather that downvote right off the bat.

It's certainly nice to see the outpouring support for Hoke from the current players. Nobody ever doubted his love for the program and players, just too bad he could never produce the wins needed to keep the job. I always wondered about whether hoke would be interested to stay on as a D Line coach but I can't imagine any HC wanting to take that step down

Lay off of him. He's learning.

My first post on this site was about how I'd win 4 national championships and 3 Heisman trophies as a star receiver for RR's Michigan teams.

You are young so I'll give you a real piece of advice (I work in marketing). Give people something they want to read. I don't want to read Twitter reactions from players. I can find this elsewhere. Write interesting content, and what is interesting to you might not be to your audience. Maybe start posting some news and opinions about WHY certain coaches would or would not be good hires for Michigan. But it had to be good an unique otherwise it will get lost on the web. Hope this helps

And you not wanting to read twitter reactions is only your opinion and does not necessarily represent the audience. I found the summary of all the tweets very interesting and I could read through it quickly on one small page. So the point here is, have varying content. Rather unique or not

I agree and disagree.  I enjoyed the piece for what it was.  I don't follow every current and former Michigan player on Twitter so it was interesting to see their reactions, and as someone else mentioned - it hit me right in the feels.

I agree with the idea that if you want to start a blog, you should have something unique or indepth to say.  Having some short "articlets" mixed in with in depth content is fine. If you go on BuzzFeed or Mashable, half of their articles are basically summaries of Twitter feeds like this.

If you want some real advice, focus on building your following on Facebook and Twitter. There are just as many Michigan fans to be found there, and most aren't as snarky and critical as us message board types.

Further more I don't think you are going to attract as big a following when you are promoting your blog on an already established blog community. You may get some clicks but you won't steal readers away from here. IMO you have to build an audience through the social media platforms (get some mentions or retweets from people with a lot of Michigan followers).

If you want to be taken seriously, pay attention to capitalization and grammar - even on Twitter. No one has to know you're young and they won't guess it as quickly if you present yourself like a pro. Proofreading and editing matter. Your content will be taken seriously if the site and your communications are professional. Good luck!

It was a very nice article. You did a great job. I could have never put together a page like your's at your age. I also can appreciate your love for Michigan Football as well, my love for this team and university came at a young age as well. Keep up the good work young man! Go Blue!
