Florida Senator Rick Scott writes to Boo Carrigan

Senator Scott has written a three page request to chairman of CFP on Senate Letterhead.  Available on 'x' and he is asking for transparancy and a response to 10 items in addition to the answer as to how FSU was ranked 4 when it was known Jordan Travis was out for Flordida and nothing has changed since that time.  He is asking for each commmittee members vote, hte topics of discussions, emails or texts between them, emails and texts between the committee and ESPN, and emails and texts between the committee and the SEC.  He acknowledged its too late but still demanding transparency and justification for the loss of revenue that FSU will be subject to.

I doubt anything really comes of this, but Brian brought up a great solution on the MGoPodcast that I'm sure would gain a ton of popularity:

Tell FSU and Alabama they're invited to do a "play-in" game between the two of them at a neutral site. Winner goes to the CFP in the 4 spot, loser's season is over since for the loser, that is essentially their NY6 game. If either team says "No, we shouldn't have to do that," then they forfeit the matchup and the other team goes to the CFP.

I get that neither team, FSU especially, would be particularly keen on having to play another game just to get in. FSU has done everything asked of it and probably feels like it shouldn't have to go the extra mile. But I guarantee they'd be taking that option right now, no questions asked and in a heartbeat, over being relegated to what is an essentially meaningless NY6 bowl.

FSU was the heartwarming choice. Guy's that fought tooth and nail to finish their season undefeated.. even if they did it in the most bass akwards way possible. They would have gotten blasted off of the field by Michigan, and while that would have been fine by us. It would have been another year of "The playoff selection is so dumb. they picked another weak team for 4th".

Alabama was the realistic pick. Yes they are Bama. The most reviled team in modern CFB. Nobody likes Bama.. I'm sure even some of their fans don't like Bama. But it's a match up that has a greater potential to be a great game. At the very least we didn't end up getting both Bama, and Georgia in the playoff.

FSU and Alabama had one common opponent: LSU. FSU beat LSU by more than Alabama. And the game was a neutral site for FSU, but was at Alabama.

Committee didn't follow their own rules.

"He acknowledged its too late but still demanding transparency and justification for the loss of revenue that FSU will be subject to."

What Scott is really doing is making sure that the bigwig politicos in Tallahassee and wealthy donors throughout the state understand that he's "going to bat" for a major FL educational institution that is well-represented among the state's movers and shakers.

He knows that his letter will do exactly fuckall.

I was wondering when Florida's political ass clowns would get involved. I expected their governor to be first with a tough guy act, though.
