On the field at the Big House with a Former Buckeye
I hadn't seen this until today, but Ben Hartsock, a former OSU receiver was invited to the Michigan - Ohio State game by Jon Jansen and video documented his visit. This may be the most balanced OSU alum I have seen. He had a tremendous time visiting the campus and returning to Michigan Stadium for the first time since 2003. He spent the game on the field and provides a different perspective of the game (he captured the play were Hutchinson trucked their left tackle - worth the watch).
The video is pretty long but I thought it was worth it. Hartsock has gone beyond being a homer and has morphed into a college football fan. I appreciate his perspective, even if he can't pronounce Crisler correctly.

Hmm, I saw it on MGoBlog just a few days ago.

This was already posted. Seems like a good dude though, for a buckeye

He was in my class when I was a TA at Ohio State (yes, I went from Michigan to OSU--don't ask). He did seem like a good guy and he was a good student. Hopefully he has a successful media career.

Keith Jackson wishes he could be there too

Yeah, it's good if you haven't seen it. But it's been posted here. Hartsock is a Buckeye with perspective. He puts life ahead of personal loyalty. That's a great way to manage life.

Nice commentary. I texted him about his video, about getting around Ann Arbor, and he mentioned how as a player they didn't get to see Ann Arbor.

Dammit - I looked for it but didn't see it. My apologies. Moms, please delete!

It's buried down a bit so you'd have to dig some, but it got a good deal of attention while it was on the front page of the board. It was enjoyable to watch.

I missed it the first time around. Thanks for posting.

I missed it too. Thanks for the repost!

Wow, this is really cool. Thanks for posting.

I have the attention span of a flea so a 30 minute video will be about 28 minutes too long.

I understand, but as someone who can't get enough of the Buckeyes going down, this is magnificent!

Good point. But Seth's snippets of plays on UFR are about the limit of my patience.

You can get through those snippets? I start them and then something else catches my

Sorry Keith.

Holy crap this angle of that 4th down Jaxon Smith Njigba catch at 24:50. I was wondering why in the Fox view all the UM defenders were waving incomplete. It bounced out of his hands, off of Hawkins, and then back in his arms. FOX - HOW DO YOU NOT SHOW A REPLAY OF THAT AT LEAST TO MAYBE REVIEW. Unbelievable

Not a lot of replays on Fox when there is a stoppage of play. Too many full commercial breaks to get to.

I did see it before but didn't comment that it would have worked better without the 5+ minutes of travelogue.
Perhaps he sees his videos—I think he indicated he's done them before—as an audition for a TV gig or sponsored podcast but it seems to me you've got to say & do more than "I'm here now" or show what you're eating.
Still, it was fun to get the stuff on the field—the real interest of the video—from a different angle.

Long video, I watched it a few minutes at a time while working a week or so ago, and I agree that it was great beyond 'Chris-ler.' Also first time i saw that crazy Njigba catch...and some buckeyes think we got all the breaks. They got all the breaks, just like every other year, and we crushed them anyway.

Like others I saw this a few days ago but I will say I truly enjoyed it. It really gives you the perspective of what it was like on field level.

He can't pronounce "knish" either. Nish. As a Jew, I'll cut him some slack. It's not that common of a word and in English, 'kn' is usually pronounced 'n.'

An underrated part of this video is Jon Jansen rocking a thin windbreaker type 'jacket' during the game and not seeming to be bothered by the cold.

Speaking of Fritz Crisler, my great uncle Bob played both baseball and basketball for him at the University of Chicago back in the late 1920's. He was captain of the basketball team his senior year. I found some old photos of the team, with Fritz in the back row. My uncle is bottom far right.

I didn't see this the first time. Thanks for posting. I for one loved seeing his full day experience!

I really enjoyed this.....It showed the origin of the rivalry and Ben was spot on with the camera work as far as on the field during the actual game, but what was awesome was the fact that he went to local food establishments and showed the relationship he has with Jon Jansen. I suggested he should do this as a "Great Rivalry Game" series for each opponent in college football like....Ala v Aub.... USC v UCLA etc. IT WAS THAT GOOD.
