I'm working with second-hand (or worse) knowledge here, but I've seen others write that Annese is a little challenging behaviorally and maybe not someone who was ever destined to get a high-profile job. This is all I could find in a quick search:

i believe ferris' specialty is taking D-1 cast-offs and having them play D-2 ball. they are like the oakland raiders in their acceptance of any character problem who can fog a mirror and run a sub-4.6 40. exaggerating a little, but you get the picture. still and all, i hope they win next week.

I won't argue the X's and O's disparity between the two, but I know for a fact that Mitchell would never be allowed to enroll some of the players Annese runs out there.

In what sense, grades? I haven’t heard of any Ferris players having trouble with law enforcement and the Jayru Campbell experiment seemed to go well.
I too am a bit puzzled why Annese isn’t receiving interest from D1 schools.

Bernhardt is an elite athlete. If you see any of his highlights from this year. He is just moving at a speed completely different than everyone else on the field. Reminded me of sensed how he hits the hole long before defenders can collapse on him.
